Would you explain the title?

Hi DG,
about resizing the picture, I use Corel Photo Paint, which allows me to resample (resize) the picture to any size I want (using percentage or exact dimensions, up to you). Also, when exporting/saving as jpeg, I can choose the percentage of compression to be applied. That way, I can try with 5%, then look at the size of the resulting image, if it's over 100K, I just try a higher percentage and so on. If by any chance you happen to want to buy this software, you can get very cheap old versions, which are more than good enough for basic (and not so basic) things.
>> but maybe this wasnt the correct thing to do
Well, I'd say that has to do quite a lot with personal taste. So I wouldn't say if it's correct or not, but if I like it or not.
I really like when people make comments on my photos, because it helps me a lot more than just ratings. Although sometimes I don't agree with the comments or ratings, because as I said, at the end of the day, it's got to do with personal taste.

Could you post a small view of the original, please?
-
Nice, it seems like those posts are really stopping the waves/sea. I think I'd like to see a bit more of the sea. Mabye getting a more panoramic view?
Yesterday I posted a picture of the posts that we've got here at the Aberdeen Beach. It's funny how different the same subject can be, if you wanna check:
-
Is that somebody's arm rowing in the water, seen from the bottom?
-
Thanks for replying Niels :-)
By "blown out", you mean like the whole thing didn't show?
>> This is underrepresentative of your portfolio
He, thanks, I hope so. When I took this picture I wasn't even looking, it was just shooting to the sun, to show to my friend that he could take pictures with the sun in there.

Sorry, this was supposed to be my comment:
I assume I'll not get any high rates with this one, but I'd like to get some comments.
It's because I found "funny" (can't think of the proper word in English) that the colours seem to be almost gone; at least on my monitor.
I went for a walk in the Black Forest a few days ago, and we were taking some pictures. Then I was talking with my wife's cousin about taking pictures with the sun in front of you. He had never done it because he thought that it wouldn't work. So I took a couple of them.
When I got home and checked my pictures, I found that this one had almost no colour on it. That's the only thing that called my attention.
Has it happend to you, that you've taken a picture and later found out it looked more like a B&W than a colour one?

I think that if the sky was cropped, the farm would be in the perfect location within the picture. It wouldn't be in the geometrical center anymore, I think that'd be nice.

Just great!
Great detail, great light/shadow, great composition.
What else?
-
Best picture in your portfolio (IMO).

I just had a look at your portfolio, and I prefer the Pacific Ocean.
I like the feeling of this one (snow tree), but the PO seems more powerful; maybe a more interesting subject.
With the Snow Tree, I can't say if I'd prefer to change something in the composition. All I could change is the DOF. But with the PO, there are lots of little things that you can play with. So I give it more credit, because I find it more difficult to take that shot.

Thanks a lot guys! I think I'll try some more tomorrow :-)
>> thought how strange, is it a viaduct ?
No, it's not. Here, at Aberdeen beach, they have something like a wooden wall every 100 meters or so. I guess it's to stop the water taking the sand away.
I'm attaching (I hope it works) a view from the promenade, so that you can see more of these "walls" in one view.

Thanks Wong :-)
I just replied at your thread.
It's funny that we got so different pictures shooting at similar subjects, isn't it?

I think the baby face is quite scary.

Bee or wasp?
I've got a picture you might like, I was following a bee as well, and got her while on the air, from the back: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1970222

Thanks for looking Mark.
By the way, I liked your colours. Did you have to modify much from the original?
I was lucky and I liked the image just the way it came out. I'd just love to have a better camera, so that I'd get all the colours (probably before March....)
-
Are those the colours you got straight away from the camera?
-
It's funny, the picture that I've got as my portrait in here is a bit similar. I mean, it's a picture of me and myself in my sofa as well. I don't have a link, but if you want to have a look, it's in my profile somewhere.
I think it would be nice if you change something in you, I mean, like changing clothes, or maybe holding two different objects, etc...
-
Nice composition. Maybe I'd crop it a bit more from the lower side.
It's a kind of picture I like to take very often.
You might want to check the one I uploaded just a couple of minutes ago: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2011960

I was walking my dog at the beach, and looked up the street. Then I
saw the sun shining on the bus stop. And I thought that a "British"
bus would make a nice shadow.
Then I got home and saw that you can see all the sun light inside of
the bus. That's what I like of the picture.
Any critiques please?

I like the contrast between the "skirt" (if it's one) and hat with the background.
Although the model got lovely breasts, I think the picture could be more interesting if she was showing her back, and maybe the very top of her bottom. Do you have anything like it?
