A friend told me that there was too much "black" on this photo. What do you think about the composition?

What about the light, is too much or too light?

    Thanks for any comments

    Sailing Away

          1

This is a "portrait" of my father in law, sailing away from the

    harbour.

He works with these boats, so that's why I title the photo "Portrait

at work". If I was to take a similar photo in the summer season the

whole picture would be quite different. I'll do so, just to have a

couple of pictures of the same subject, but really different.

What do you think about the light and composition?

    Thanks for looking

  2. Certo Glenn,

thanks a lot for your nicely written comment :-)

The location is quite good for photography, because it's a small bay surrounded by mountains, so wherever you shoot from, you'll get something in the background.

    Cheers,

  3. My little baby Isabel laughing in Mallorca while on holidays in

    Mallorca.

Her mom was talking to her, while I was a couple of meters away

trying to frame her face while laughing / smiling. I was quite

limited because of the space; the lens that I was using doesn't focus

anything closer than 2 meters, and the terrace was quite a small one.

Also, I found quite difficult to choose what angle to position the

    camera, with respect to Isabel.

Any advice on how to improve this kind of shot?

    Thanks for looking,

  4. I shot this today, near my house, in Loch of Skene, Aberdeenshire.

I'd like to know what you think of the levels. It's the first time I'm

submitting a photo converted to B&W and played with the levels.

    Any suggestions/advices?

    Thanks

    CD

I like the idea of the drops on the CD, but I don't like the result of the light.

I think that the blue blackground makes it look a bit too artificial (like more computer graphics than photography).

Just in case you'd like to add a title to your image, I think it should be Plimsoll disc (that's the techincal name).

What ship does it belong to?

    Frozen time

Some months ago there was another shot title Frozen Time as well. I think that was a bit better, you might want to do a search and compare both images.
  5. Hi there,

what do you think about the idea of this photograph?

I was trying to get a "funny" shot of my little brother. I was

standing on the deck of yacht, when he jumped over the side. I think

it's quite a different perspective compared with the usual diving

    jumps.

    Technically I couldn't do much, becuase I used a P&S camera (sorry

    about the highlights).

    Any comments are welcome.

    Thanks for lookin.
