  1. Hello David,

I would make them for my cost ($5.95 + 4.45 shipping to me from B&H )+ $15 .IE $25.40 not including shipping etc. No real need to "turn" the male thread off, unless you want to put it in front of a filter.

For quantities, i could reduce the price due to shipment savings from B&H. I'm going to be very busy from now till the New Year, which will require a little patience.

  2. Hello, I thought i would share this. I have been searching for a lens

hood, to no avail & came up with a solution.

    I purchased from bhphotovideo a lens hood (B&H # GBLH40.5)which was a

40.5mm thread. My Zeiss Super Ikonta (S/N B89102) takes 40.5mm

screw "ON" fiters. The female thread end of the lens hood fitted

perfectly. I carefully removed the rubber hood from the

aluminum/aluminium base (spot glued with super glue.)

I am going to use this in conjunction with a polarizing filter, so i

put it in a lathe & machined off the male thread end (to prevent

the "possibility" of vignetting.) Replaced the rubber hood in the

REVERSED position with a few spots of superglue. The result looks

    like a factory job !

Beats searching for an overpriced rareity & functions exceedingly

    well @ about US$5.00-6.00.

  3. Hi,

I have had excellent results on purchases/sales on E-Bay. Just make sure you scrutinise the feedback of the seller.

Ask detailed questions before bidding ! There are some decent/honest sellers out there (of which I'm one.......LOL.)

Know what you are buying & its value, before you press that button!

  4. Hi FW,

One of the issues not touched on is if the camera has a reflex mirror? For optimum enlargements, (using tripod & cable release etc.) mirrors ( especially those on medium format SLR cameras ) should be locked up. Iris shutters on TLR's require the least stabilization as their mechanisms are perfectly balanced.

For nature photography, i view the image (35mm format with 1000mm lens +)with the mirror locked up(after framing) & view my subject for that special moment with a pair of 20X Steiners (prior to release) to get acceptable results.

  5. Hi,

Mine came in the post today ! Adapter is a precision piece of work.....very nice. I wasn't too sure of the quality of the Kiev but was cautiously, pleasantly surprized. Rolf had dialed it in for my Tele Rollei (best he could, as i have a Beattie screen)& promised support to fine tune (if necessary). I will update when i test it out.

  6. Hi,

Recently i purchased a few Zeiss Ikon filters on E-Bay (from a very

nice gentleman)on the off chance that they would fit. Previous posts

have suggested that the filters required would be 40.5mm push fit?

The items purchased have a strange "knurled" thread & screw perfectly

on & off (backwards) to the camera (male

    thread .....also "knurled" ??)lens ring.

The filters are in bakelite hinged boxes & have 373/4 germany, Zeiss

Ikon marked on the rims. Has anyone come across this also ? My

reasoning is, if in fact the lens will accept a female 40.5mm thread,

i could also mount a 40.5 mm polarizing filter on backwards !!??

    Which is my aim.

    Cheers, Larry

  7. Harry,

I "think" i know what you mean? I have mine in my hand & see that the glass (on which the center target mirror is mounted,) is secured by two top screws.

"Possibly" you could remove those screws (using a jewellers screwdriver)& reposition the mirror to correct vertical alignment ?

  8. Hi,

Not sure what you mean....... but the focus sync. adjustment is accomplished by moving/shifting the fulcrum pivot that rests on the front face plate. If any other adjustments are required, its either due to the meter not being attached to the camera properly or it's damaged. :0(

  9. Hundreds of thousands of medium format cameras out there which will require film. Sure the price may go up & the selections may be limited but they will be there for a long while yet. One or more film makers will fill the niche'.

  10. Michael, Sorry for the delay in reply.

The manual says for 2 1/4 X 3 1/2 (6x9) advance the number to the window to the far right (looking at the back.........window # 1 )Forgetting window # 2.

For 1 3/4 x 21/4 the number should first appear in window # 1 & then in window # 2 for the next exposure)Hope that seems clear? Ensure you close the windows with the shutter after transport !

If you would like i could scan a copy of the manual & e-mail it to you ?

  11. Hi All,

I am considering having my viewfinder modified by replacing it with

the modern "super bright" Voightlander 50mm flash shoe mount

    viewfinder.

Here is my dilemma. The camera is mint & any mods done i would prefer

to be reversible (to keep the camera as was.) However, i love to work

with this camera & use it a lot. Function rules before form !

Does anyone out there know of an excellent camera technician who

would be up to this task ? Also any recommendations?

    Cheers, Larry
