1.
I keep "wanting" to sell a my Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 FF lens but every time I think about it I take a look at the images it turns out and can't seem to pull the trigger. Great lens, that and the Nikon 28-80mm f3.3-5.6 G plastic fantastic lens is another good low cost choice. I've also heard great things about the Nikon 24-85mm VRII lens.

 2.
It's been a whlie since I've posted. Here are a few shots from my D7100 with my Tamron 90mm f2.8 VC. Enjoy!

 3. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I won't sell my d200 and I haven't had my 80-200mm long so don't use it much yet. So I'll hold off on that Nikon 70-200mm vr ii for now and I'll just work my d700 into the mix.
 4.
Thanks, yea I am impress with the images this 7 year old camera takes. My main camera is a D7100, and I also have a D200 that I too love the images that it turns out. Now I'm in a bit if a quandary.

When my D700 moves into my main camera position do I sell my D7100? I'm not getting rid of my D200 so I can't really see the D7100 just sitting in my bag? I could also sell my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 and with some extra $$$ thrown in could buy a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II lens.

Or just sell my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 and buy a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 VC USD and keep all three bodies?

Not sure what direction I'll go.

 5.
The more I use my D700 the more I like it. Here are some test shots using my Nikon 300mm f4.

@300mm f4

 6.
Fred,

I couldn't agree more with your "Picture texture" analogy. I too really enjoy the pictures that are coming out of my D700, I'm now considering selling my D7100 and put that $$$$ towards the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II or Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 VC USD.

 7.
Wouter,

Thanks for the clarification, that's what I figured.

Rodeo,
Had my 80-200mm f2.8 not preformed this well on my d700 I'd be leaning toward the 70-200mm f2.8 VR II. These are more "getting to know" the lens test shots, and I haven't ruled the 70-200mm f2.8 VRII out just yet.

 8.
Lorne,
You are right, I had time this evening to mount my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 on my D700 and I'm amazed how good these images are. I just picked up this lens second had about a month ago, tired it on my D7100, it was ok at f2.8 but it's now fantastic on my D700 @ 80mm. I think I need to step back while zoomed all the way to 200mm for sharp focus when standing infront of my subject. But again I'm still learning the quirks of this lens.
@80mm f2.8

@200mm f2.8

@80mm f2.8

@200mm f2.8 (here's where I think I need to move back a bit and refocus)

 9.
Grear,

If you do purchase the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II lens please make sure and post some test shots at both the long and short ends! And let us know it the 'focus breathing" has much affect on your shooting. I too have the D700 and am looking/hoping/saving for the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II lens.

 10.
Thanks for the encouragement and kind words. I need to make time to really put my D700 thru it's paces.

Chip, I still have my D200, last year picked up a D7100 which I'm happy with, but couldn't scratch the itch of FX. The first thing I'm noticing is the boken on the D700, to me it seems much smoother and pleasing, but I'll need to run some more tests. I'm considering selling my D7100 as I plan on moving my D700 to primary status.

Another itch I can't seem to scratch is the new Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II. If I sell my D7100 for $700, and sell my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 for another $700 I'm very well within reach. But that's whole other story. hahahah

 11.
After some back and fourth I decided to look for a used D700. I finally found one that I was able to purchase for a reasonable price with only 27,1xx cliicks. The great thing aside from how well this camera preforms is that I can use the batteries from my D200. Here are some test shots!

Tamron 90mm VC USD

Voightlander 58mm f1.4

Nikon 85mm f1.8

 12. Can you post wide open shots from all three wide open? And happy Easter.
 13.
Have any 70-200mm f2.8 or 80-200mm f2.8 owners made the switch to the Nikon 70-200mm f4 VR? If so can you tell me how you like or dislike the change? Also, can you post some 70-200mm f4 VR wide open samples?
Thanks!

 15.
My Tamron arrived today, here are some test shots. So far I'm loving this lens.

 16.
Norbert, can you post some samples? Thanks!

 17.
Any members with the new Tamron 90m f2.8 VC lens that can provide feedback and samples would be great. I know the NON VC lens is sharp but want to see if the VC has any effect on anything.

Thanks!
