<p>what comes to mind instantly is, that the light is indeed very weird and one might wonder what it was.<br /> <br />i chose not to show the sun at all.<br /> <br />so looking at your image i would tend to not show the sun too.<br /> but if it m,ust be on the frame. for whatever reason i feel like a littlebit more foreground would be cool.<br /> one does get dragged into the image niceley, as the only path is right there in the middle.<br /> however, it does get bright there and i feel like i am dragged towards the sun really soon.<br /> to put this in balance i would have preferred to have a bit more ground that would keep me there a bit longer and thus making the weirdly lit landscape more important than the sun itself</p>

<p>since last week i own a nikon d4s.<br /> my walk around camera is my beat up d3..fancy that.</p>

<p>pick up a different camera.<br /> you will notice it changes the way you take photos.<br /> do this alot.<br /> you will improve.<br /> and sooner or later you will come to the point where you buy a holga.<br /> for me..that point was after my first publication in national geographic.<br /> i wanted a camera that is not...never..ever..doing exactly what i want.<br /> something that surprises me and thereby changes the way i see things.</p>

<p>perfection is good and fine and something you should strife for.<br /> in that respect, gear does matter.</p>

<p>but better gear will never ... E V E R ... make you a better photographer.<br /> never...</p>

<p>get to the point where your current camera cannot do what you need.<br /> invest in something.<br /> but a good photo to me leaves you with a feeling, a sense of purpose, tells a story...a photo you will<br /> remember the next day.</p>

<p>look at your favourites.<br /> how many of those photos were taken with 10k euros of equipment?</p>

<p>wouldn't you agree, dear jdm, that the new installments of the franchise lack the charm the older films?<br /> i however find them more convincing as action scifi popcorn cinema as i would have said the older versions do.<br /> one might argue this has to do with the time the films were made but i strongly disagree.<br /> alien, the first film of the franchise, was also released in 1979, exact same year as the first star trek film.<br /> alien wipes the floor with the first startrek in any aspect i can think of.</p>

<p>what comes to mind regarding the newer star trek installments is, that they<br /> somehow lack the wisdom of their captains and are not that empathetic as the older ones were.</p>

<p>also cpt. krik kissed ohura during a time in which this was problematic.<br>

(in case you dnt know: white guy kissing a black woman on television in the usa in the 1960s).</p>

<p>also women are equal to men in start trek.</p>

<p>so i would argue, or more or less add to my last comment rgarding the initial post from JDM, that start trek did have visions that were far more important than to invision the design of a laptop as we now know it.</p>

<p>should the next startrek movie have the moral and humanist approach of the old films or should it degrade further to plain stupid action?</p>

<p>i had my eos 1d mark 3 black out on the display after too long in heat..it was a pain to me too belive me that..it kept on taking photos, i just couldnt see them.<br /> i also had some issues in extreme cold weather, ice in and on the viewfinder and weird distorted crytsals on the back of my screen, this did only happen once to my very beaten up d3.</p>

<p>i am not so sure but if my display can go black and distorted in heat or extreme cold i would say my electronic view finder can too..<br /> i am not willing to test drive a mirrorless system as i wasted too much money over the last two years on breaking equipment anyway...it just ...doesnt feel right. should test it.<br /> i have seen images taken in norway or iceland too..but i dont trust them as my d3 went mad after two days near tromso..</p>

<p>lithium batteries or rechargable batteries do almost deliver the power they should. with nimh rechargable batteries it usually is about 15% less of power than it is supposed to be.<br /> maybe this is the reason why nikon says go for the lithium. there's a difference in pricing though.</p>

<p>i have no experience with digital cameras but i used to have a winder for my nikon f100 and i used niMH rechargable batteries and it worked fine.</p>

<p>i quit it as fast as i could because one does produce a lot of waste...</p>

<p>what matt wrote above made me smile and i think it is great fun.<br /> 6 vs 8 batteries..hmm..well..hope they somehow forget the last 0 in the prize of my camera to be, the d5 when i buy one in about a year or so......</p>

<p>as mentioned above, a scanner is a good thing. epson v500 or v750 are cheap and easy to use and a start. of course there are better products as the hasselblad immacon but this really depends on the amount of money and time you want to invest as scanning of film really is a science itself.</p>

<p>i use the v750.</p>

<p>do not let yourself be fooled by any dust removing algorithms and mechanics.<br /> they do work quite nice because the scanner is using infrared light but sometimes it does mess things up.</p>

<p>do try to get a propper scanner, the epson v500 and v750 come with different masks for many different negative sizes.</p>

<p>get a good scan and use photoshop or lightroom to clean things up.<br /> photoshop - healing brush - contant aware and stamp tools if needed.</p>

<p>you should be able to grab an epson perfection v500 from ebay for around 50-100 dollars.<br /> it comes with a software that you can update from the homepage or even get it there.<br /> unless you do not want to make highqualtiy fine art prints id say the epson v500 is a good thing to start.<br>

i only got the 750 because i lucked out :p <br>

keep an eye open for good deals.<br>

do check if the masks that have glass and the glass of the scanner is scratch free.</p>
