Well I have to say a big thankyou for everyone who has commented this month. I must say no one was more surprised and proud to have dropped into photo.net and seen my pic on the front page than me. I have just banged out an email to my closest friends alerting to it. Just lucky actually as I had a couple of pics to upload from a recent biz trip to Europe and I saw it otherwise I might have missed it. Anyway again thanks for the comments. Keep on shooting.

This picture nearly made the front cover of the 3rd edition of
StrokeMX (a new magazine here in Australia) due out in 3 weeks. It
will actually be another picture which I will post in the No Fear
2006 presentation. For those that want to know it is Craig Anderson -
2006 Australian MX Champion. Please enjoy.

Nothing too exciting here, no great action but I like the feel that
this shot has. The blur is natural from the berm in front of me.
Hope you like it. Regards gb

I do like the candid shots.

Thanks William for the comments and yes you have got it close. The only other secret I didn't mention is that sometimes to get richness I add a dupicate layer, some Gaussian Blur, change the layer to overlay and adjust the % scale. Have a play and see what you think. Basically I agree with you though and try to do little in PS except for enhancing some colours back to what it was. Dust is always a problem so this can reduce its effect on the pic as well. I tend to do all of this with a simple action I have created. The other thing is that the framing action from my PS v.6 is one I love but it also adds a layer and sometimes darkens it. As for which version of PS well I have PS6 at home and PS7 at work. All the best and remember just to keep playing in PS as what works for one pic may not work for the next. Regards Graeme

Hey William, great shot!
I am very jealous of you having so many venues to shoot MX over there in the States. Although the top levels racers are good here in Australia under that there is not much.
Hey I had a little fun is PS just to show you what a little tweak can do. I am not one for making major changes but a little levels (although they were pretty good), saturation, sharpen and framing can sometimes make a pic come to life. Of course it is all in the eye of the beholder.
Anyway keep on shooting. One day I will get across and shoot an AMA MX (I have been lucky enough to shoot a few pics at the 2004 San Fran SX).
Keep an eye out for an Aussie MX mag called Stroke (www.strokemx.com).
Regards

They say the camera never lies but I know sometimes it can bend the
truth. Practice sessions are always good for riders to hang it all
out but not necessarily are they going blindingly fast. Thanks again
for looking and thanks to Digs for hanging it out. Regards gb

Sorry to say that the raggerty old 20D has a new companion this year - 1DMk2N.
Having said that the 1D now has pumped out about 14,000 pics since April.
This shot is done with the 1D. I still use the 20D especially for slow shutter, side on panning as well as the family pics. Thanks for the comment, keep on shooting.

I can't beleive Johnny O is still racing superbikes. A 1D is a magic camera.

A pic from the 1st Newcastle round of the now Australian MX Champion
Ryan "Doggie" Marmont. Please enjoy.

Nice capture. Always hard to get the crashes as you often just start to watch them rather than shoot them. Keep on shooting.

A quick snap I took at the Melbourne Zoo. I have been there many
times with my daughters and much to their disappointment, more often
than not the tiger is hiding from public view. Please enjoy.

I love a good pan shot and this is one. So often with the pan shot the point that is sharp is in some weird spot on the bike or rider but when it works like this one they look great.regards gb

G'day Keith, Nice shot and I am extremely jealous about your location. I would love to go see the IOM. The only thing I would have done is some burning and levels to take out some of the reflection from the wet road (see attached I had a quick fiddle). But frankly it is personal preference. Keep on shooting....

A snapshot I took as I left the 6th Round of the Australian MX
Titles. Funny how you really can't plan these shots. I had put the
camera away and was talking to mate when I turned around and there
it was. Just had to pull the camera back out. Please enjoy.

I found it somewhat ironic but still had a good chuckle over this
one. I hope you also enjoy. Regards Graeme
