Dear nikon users,
I had just switched to nikon system, and have many questions.
On the current market, nikon makes 50/1.4 and 50/1.8 'normal' lens
The price are HKD1900 (USD240) and HKD700 (USD90) respectively.
What are the differences between those two lens?
Are the sharpness of the lens the same?
Does it worth the money just to get the aperture 0.4 wider?
They are both made in China, does it affect the quality of the lens,
comparing to the old AI-S lens?
Cheers,

Dear all,
I have some questions regarding inconsistent aperture zoom lens.
For example, my 24-85 F3.5-4.5 G AF-S lens, when its at 24, its
aperture is 3.5; when zoom to 85, the aperture changes to 4.5.
My question is: When it changes to F4.5, does it only mean the light
intensity received by the lens is equivalent to F4.5? Does the depth
of field change?
Cheers,

Edward,
I had just switched to Nikon system, and bought a 24-85 AF-S lens. I am very satisfied with the range it zooms, especially the 24 wide.
The 24-85 range takes care of everyday photography, unless you need a more specialised lens for special purposes.
Just some of my experience with the 24-85 AF-S

Dear all,
I am new to my F80, and had never learn rear sync before.
What does rear sync do?
What is the difference with normal sync?
What sort of situation would it be best used in?
Could anyone tell me more details about this?

So if I use a SB-26,
Do I have to put any device on my F-80 to trigger the flash remotely?
Does it use infrared or radio wave to trigger?
Cheers,

Dear nikon users,
I had read somewhere that there is a magical gadget called SU-4
I am very interested in how the SU-4 works, and these are my
questions:
1. So it works with SB-28, I put the SU-4 on the SB-28, then put it
not-too-far. Do I need to put another device on my F80 camera body?
2. Roughly, what is the process of setting it up? Do I have to use
the pop-up flash to activate it?
3. Does it work with infrared or wireless signal?
4. How much (roughly) does it cost?
5. Does anyone know any instruction manual on the web on SU-4?
Cheers,

Dear nikon users,
I had recently bought a F80 with a 24-85 AFS lens. I am
considering of buying a second hand flash light.
I have problem choosing between SB-26 and SB-28, as I don't know
the difference of their specifications.
Could anyone tell me what their differences are and advice which
one would be a better deal? They both cost roughly the same in the
second hand market.

The subject is slightly misleading, what I ment is adding a CPU so
that a manual lens can activate the light meter inside an AF camera.
I had read in the web some where that some people know how to add a
CPU into a manual lens, so a camera like D70 and F/N80 can use the
matrix metering.
Does anyone know how to do this? Is this quite often done? What
would the process be? Can anybody tell me details of this operation?

Nikon lens
in Nikon
Dear Nikon users,
As mention before, in previous questions, I am about to jump to F80.
I would like to know more about Nikon lens.
Does anybody know any good websites that give information about Nikon
lens? I am more interested in the AF lens (D,G,AF-S)
Cheers,
Thomson

I am about to move to Nikon F80, but I don't know anything about the
AF lens of Nikon.
D and G lens are said to be able to measure distance.
And I heard that AF-S lens can focus faster than D & G lens.
So, what are the charateristics of the D, G and AF-S lens?
Also, what other category AF lens do Nikon have? and what AF lens
fits F80 camera?
Cheers,

Dear photographers,
I would hope my query could be answered,
What I don't understand is how does the size of the CCD matter?
Nikon Coolpix 8700 can do 8M pixels, and the new D70 can do 6M
pixels. So except that D70 can change lens, how does it make a
better DC than Coolpix?
I had heard that bigger the CCD, thinner the depth of field, is that
true?
So, how does a full size CCD differ APS size CCD? assuming they have
same amount of pixels
Cheers,

Hi,
Previous repliers are absolutely right, I am very nervous in this purchase, it is costing me all what I've earned this summer.
It is a big leap for me, changing from MF to AF. The MF I've got is not too bad, but because its quite out of date, accessaries are not so easy to find and replace.
I do hope by changing to AF, it would take me less concentration in focusing, and put more attention on the composition of the photo. Also, with Nikon, there are more accessaries to choose from.

Dear photographers,
I am hoping to change from my manual Minolta XG-9 to Nikon F80, but
due to budget, I don't know if I should get a new or 2nd hand camera.
My questions are:
Does it worth buying a new one? or a 2nd one would be fine?
What sort of thing should I look out when I buy a 2nd hand AF
camera?
I had heard that 2nd AF does cause some problem from time to time,
is that true?
New F80 are made in Malaysia, and the 2nd hand F80 is Japan made,
how is the workmanship differ?
The situation is that a new F80 costs HKD 2600, and there is an
offering of 2nd hand F80 at HKD 1900 with the MB16 battery pack.
The warranty of the 2nd camera is out-of-date.
Please give me some advices
Cheers,

I might bee wrong, but as what I know, Coolpix (digital) camera has to use speecific digital flash. Usually Dx type. Some more experienced photographers may confirm this point.

Another pic of the F80
This and the above pics are the second hand F80 offering at HKD1800. Excluding the MB16

Dear photographers,
I am hoping to buy a F-80 SLR. But due to my low paid summer job, I
am very likely to buy a second hand F 80 SLR. I had contacted a
dealer, he is offering HKD1800, with the MB16 battery pack. A new F80
in HK costs HKD2500 with out the battery pack. The thing is that the
second hand F80 is Japan made, a new F80 is Malaysia made; the
warranty of the second hand camera is over.
My questions are: Could anybody advise me which one would worth
buying? What should I look for when I buy a second hand camera, like
the F80? Does Japan made and Malaysia made F80 have big difference in
terms of quality of manufacture?
Cheers,

Hi, I am hoping to get into medium format, and its about time I have
to buy a flash meter.
Could any one suggest which flash meter I should get? new or from
ebay?
Which model should I get that is not expensive, accurate and reliable?
Cheers,

Hi,
I've just disassembled a XG-2, and have a spare screen. If you want it, I can send it to you

Apologise for the confusion I am making here, I do mean the head of the screw being thread-less.
I had heard about a tool friction screw driver, had anybody know about this?
Cheers,

Hi,
I am trying to take apart a camera just for fun.
But few of the screws' thread are badly worn down. How could I take
the screws off?

Autofocus on the F80 vs F90X
in Nikon
Posted
How about at low light situation?
Does F90x have any problem auto-focusing? Where F80 would need AF-Assist illuminator.
