I had this same assignment for my B&W class a few years ago. I used Plus x and a slow shutter speed. You don't have to go crazy with it, IIRC I was shooting somewhere around a shutter speed of 100 or so, maybe lower. I defintely would not use trix for this. something around 100asa would be best. If you really want to go crazy go for some tech pan.

I built a 10.5' sink out of plywood on a 2x4 frame. Covered it with bondo fiberglass resin and put glass around all the corners. It took a few days, but its a great additon to my darkroom. I don't run out of room either. (I almost built it to 8' but changed my mind when I started arranging my trays around on the floor)

FWIW I haven't really noticed a big difference between the trix320 and the new 320TXP sheet film. I haven't had any time to do any real tests yet but it looks fine. IIRC the only difference I've noticed is that it develops slightly faster now.

The revised manual for it says to only use 2. Thats all I have ever used on mine. The cpe2+ only runs on high.

I use the craftsman, they are pretty nice and you can use them as little prybars if you need to. (Gotta love that warranty...;) Brownells is also a very good company, I have a nice set of Gunsmith screwdrivers, but no little ones from them.

oops, found the pic... I have not seen anything like that so far. Could it be the film? What kind of film do you use?

I have been using the 2509N with a 2503 tank and a CPE-2+ for almost a year now with no problem. I always use the black holders for the ends, (I have heard that the film sheets can touch if these are not in place). I use the loading base as well.
Could you post a pic of the dots so we can see them?

Its pricey but I got a Tamrac expedition 7. If I ever were to get another, I would go for the Expedition 8 to carry more holders and stuff.

I wouldn't want to use my CPE2+ without a lift. I feel, that I can be more consistent with one, not to mention it cuts down on mess.
On the other hand I have never used one without it. I'd imagine that it would be fine as long as you start without one and get used to it.
