Hi everybody,
I had the K10D for 7 months now, I got good shots
after reading some of the posts regarding the K10D focus button, I feel that the good shots I have got is just sheer luck...
I have set the camera to focus using half press (basically disabled the AF button focus)
Time and again I am getting out of focus pictures especially indoors with my Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 lens. I checked the picture for any back or front focus (I have attached an example) in pictures taken in apertures of F2.8 to F4.5 but it looks like the entire picture was soft on seeing it 100%. It does not happen all the time thats why I am feeling I dont know how to use my camera's focussing system
Currently I half press and if I get the green hexagaon light, then I fully depress the shutter button to take a picture
How do I use AF button? Should I press that button when I want to take a picture and then once I get the green hexagaon, should I depress the shutter? It seems to be a long winded process especially if I want to take a picture in a hurry of a my 2 year old son darting across
Please be patiient and explain the best way to focus
Some of the pictures I have taken outside are pretty good but most of my focus problems come indoor. This lens has a reputation as one of the sharpest lens
Thanks

Nice picture!
Congratulations!

Thanks everyone.... I am gonna wait as I saw prices of $130 in ebay
I am not going for FA50mm f1.4 because all the reviews say wideopen, it is soft while the f1.7 lenses are reputed sharp
I already have a f2.8 zoom and I use it @ f2.8 for acceptable results, so I am looking at to use the prime even lower fstop and at a budget thats why hesitant to go for FA35mmf2.0

Hi,
Somebody is selling the pentax-F-50mm F1.7 for $160, this lens is an autofocus lens
Is this a good deal or should I look for even low prices
I heard that this lens is sharp wideopen too, thats why I am looking at it
Thanks,

For the second picture, I did not choose tungsten WB, so the colors were not accurate,

Hi Sheldon
Thanks for your response
Once you click on each picture, you can choose the original size...

Again Thanks for the quick response

Hi,
I took the attached picture @ a party december 3rd week.
F2.8, 1/15s, ISO800, Tamron 28-75mm, K10D, No Flash
I am trying to determine whether my lens is a good copy or not
The entire gallery is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/55871877@N00/sets/72157611474622283/
Please let me know

The lens is very good, I like the colours/ sharpness even @ F2.8, I was about to buy tamron 17-50 F2.8 but then realized that extra length is useful for portraits and also if ever Pentax makes a full frame body, this might be useful
But sometimes I get out of focus shots, watch out for that, I need to understand whether it is K10D or the lens

Hi
Last Friday evening, we had a small religious event called Karthikagai (on the star karthigai in Indian calendar)
My wife went made sweets which we offered to God and then my wife went to a friends house to accept similar sweets, when my wife was leaving, my son got upset that she was leaving without him he cried a bit, then was alright, then he opened my wife's bag, unzipped the contents and grabbed a chocolate bar :)

Hi,
I just purchased a sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 Pentax mount lens listed as New. He did not specify any return policy, it did not occur for me to ask for test images either (this is actually the first time I ever participated in an ebay auction let alone winning it in the last 3 seconds, so in the excitement of bidding, overlooked to ask those questions....)
The lens may arrive a week or so from now using Canadian expedited post
What is your opinion? If I found it as a bad copy, what are my options?
Thanks,
Mugundhan

-

I bought the Impact batteries from B&H for my K10D and so far it seems to give the same performance as Pentax but I have only taken abt 3500 pix unlike Andrew or Tom so do not have enough mileage yet ....

The temple is actually Kalla Azhagar temple about 30Kms from our village Thuvariman

Hi,
It is a Hindu tradition to have a young boy's head fully shaved after his first birthday in a temple. Thanks everybody for the comments, I guess I will now adopt the tilt framing until everybody else gets sick of it LOL
I can try .3EV compensation
-
Thanks guys!
I like ISO800 on K10D, need to try ISO1600 on indoors...If exposure is right, I guess noise should be minimum. Its lots of fun exploring the equipment's potential
Now I know why people prefer flashless available light photos!

Javier,
Thanks! Any suggestions?
Do you think these pictures are representative of the tamron lens? I am just curious to know whether I have a good copy of the lens

Hi everybody,
Last week went to a friend's son's birthday gathering, it was a small gathering and I took my K10D with Tamron 28-75mm/F2.8 lens. Please give me feedback on my composition, techniques....
My takeaways:
At F2.8, the lens is slightly weak but gets very sharp by F3.5 ( I recently had my lens calibrated at Tamron service center for focus issues)
K10D likes to choose ISO320 when I use program mode and configure it to high speed mode
When near a mirror be careful or the reflection of the flash affects the pictures
My flickr album location:
