  1. Thanks Doug and Vladimir. Doug I hear what you are saying . I may crop out the little grass on the right but this go around I wanted the curve by the pool and the walkpath. I thought the curves of both complimented the model.

    Doug,

Thanks for for the critque. Softness is not in the original but comes from my poor quality up load. You make a good point - instead of f/8 I could have gone with 2.8 and blurred the background and isolate the hand and breast.

  2. I disagree with Joke. Even though I would change some things-I find the earing and the tip of the hat a distraction I would have this area completely in shadow and I would highlight the eyes more-I find the composition enjoyable and esthetic.I don't understand the cold digital comment. I think BW gets it's look from the final processing onto paper. I came from film and now I feel with BW it is not what you capture it with-film or digital- but how you process at the end that makes the difference.

I agree this is one of your best shots! You captured the feel of movement perfectly and the tone /color is just wonderful. What technique did you use-settings- and how much ps? I would love to learn a little!

Greg-you and I had the same thought and location! I have been taking this photo(plus some from Venentian causway) for a while now. When I ask for comments I didn't get any but others have told me I should have tried to capture this scene earlier in the evening so I would have a lighter sky. I have tried but always looks washed out. have you tried to lighten the sky-more of a dusk shot? anyway let me be the first to say nice capture. I like your portfolio-I need to try my hand at more bird shots-yours are great. I tried to shrink my photo but couldn't. Maybe you can visit my site

  3. Wonderful capture. It is hard to critque such a nice photo-especially fighting the elements. I just had a similiar problem here in the Everglades-I am still scratching!! And my daughter who came to enjoy the day with me is worse. My only thought and this may be my monitor is the woods on the left are in too much of a shadow and maybe a little PS would make this photo perfect. I plan on going to the same area this time next year. I hope I don't get the same hot spell that it looks like you had.

  4. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Rasmus-I have been trying to capture the look of Blacklock and Thompson-two artist whose work I admire. I like their blending of the nude form with the surrounding enviroment. Geof you are right the smile takes away a little from that blend-It may work nice as a hint to her smile but takes away from that blend. BTW-I need to add you and Stephan to my admire list since you 2 have achieve what I am working toward. My nudes are really only a fraction of my work-I am more into landscape but I try to always keep my eye and option open.
