  1. this shot has so many interpretative "layers" ... This is a condensed view of our present and future times. It's for sure one of those works of yours that will keep recurring in my visual memory. My compliments dear friend. Ciao, G.

that suits well, to my eyes, this beach scene. I think you did a good cropping. Thanks for sharing, ciao, G.
  3. This one was shot in a rainy, early November afternoon. It has been printed and exhibeted in a very large size. I thank you for your comments, critiques and suggestions. G.

  5. Jack: the pleasure is all mine when I read your witty comments. Rome is a strange and fascinating city where Eternal and Ephemeral melt together creating strange patterns of beauty. Michail: not without a great amount of irony we could humbly quote Dante's words: Cerbero, fiera crudele e diversa,/con tre gole caninamente latra/sovra la gente che quivi è sommersa - Cerberus, cruel monster, fierce and strange, / Through his wide threefold throat, barks as a dog / Over the multitude immersed beneath. Anyway I couldn't reach those benches without receiving a nice, warm and wet welcome hug by that gentle hell-hound. Marta: I love dogs, they're the best models ever :-) Dan: maybe this shot is not one of my best, but I love it, mostly for how I got it, directly from my belly, without raising the camera to the eye. This is why it possibly conveys a strong sense of being there.
  6. More than ever, I thank you warmly for your comments, critiques or suggestions about this shot that is part of a new collection that will be called "Exiles", ciao G.

  8. and the harsh post-production is well suited in this classy and classic shot of a urban landscape. Maybe, imho, this shot could have benefited by a slight perspective distortion correction (left side). Thanks for sharing and compliments, ciao, G.

and we have an interesting repetition too (the arrow formed by the shadows is mirrored by the pose of the model's left arm. In my humble opinion while the dress has a good point of black, I feel that white is somehow missing in the lighter parts of the shot (mostly on the wall): maybe a bit more contrast could have been beneficial to the shot ? Compliments and thanks for sharing, ciao, G.
  10. series is captivating and really interesting as far as the composition is concerned. Sometimes "breaking the rules" (the golden spiral one) is what is simply needed to achieve very good results. Compliments and thanks for sharing, ciao, G.

    Walking

Mehmet. The tonal contrast adds texture to this shot. Compliments, ciao, G.
  12. for your comments and ratings. @Carlos : this shot has been really taken in a hurry, and when I mean in a hurry I mean really really fast. I foresee the shot while waiting for the green light at a crosswalk. The traffic light went red, green for pedestrians, and I had to quickly move on the left of the Elegant Lady Lost in Her Morning Thoughts and kneel in the middle of the road. You summarized it very well: a magical impulse inspired by grace. Isn't this a statement that could be applied to photography in general ? Thanks a lot my dear PN friends, because your words mean a lot to me. G.

    Matrix

A very good composition and post production. Compliments, ciao, G.
  17. A work where geometry meets emotions (and a touch of surrealism). Thanks for sharing, G.
  18. to browse your works and find fine examples of balance and rhythm and (a)symmetry so well framed and shot. My compliments and thanks for sharing, ciao, G. (on a side note, just to add my 2 cents of hopefully constructive thought, I am a bit uncertain about the lower left corner. Better leave it untouched, or just overexpose it to achieve a completely white negative space ? ... I really am uncertain, although almost always I tend to choose a not too much invasive post production).
  19. adds a touch of ghostly mood to this portrait. I'd like to point out the balanced composition with the perfectly oriented handle of the umbrella: triangles and circles working together to draw our eyes toward your model's eyes. I like this series, thanks for sharing Svetlana. Ciao, G.
  20. let me add my appreciation for this work of yours. Compliments, ciao, G.
  21. e una posa interessante davvero. I tatuaggi sarebbero interessanti anche. Complimenti, bravomau, ciao, G.
  22. the more these lines from The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot keep resurfacing in my mind: Oh, do not ask, “What is it?” Let us go and make our visit. Yours is a truly fascinating view of our times. Compliments Jack, ciao, G
  23. Dear PN friends. This shot was taken through the closed window of a restaurant while having lunch in the days when PN, and photography in general, had been removed almost totally from my life due to the fact that family and work problems had a very severe impact on my well-being. I remember seeing the man with the umbrella slowly entering the scene from the bottom and the urge to grab the camera, stand up and nonchalantly shoot while waiters and clients were staring perplexed at me. Ah, Photography is fun. Glad you like it, a big thank you to you all and some explanations about the title. Now that things are going way better, I have decided to share this shot with PN community with a title both referencing the sad interlude in my life and the sense of coming back to photography from a distant time (Back to the Future): Tears in Rain. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." Rutger Hauer as Replicant Roy Batty in Bladerunner - 1982
  24. work, full of life and colors. As far as the story behind the shot, sometimes I have faced the same situation of yours. This is the street, and - in some places and circumstances - people asking for money because of their "modelling" is part of the game. Same happens here in Italy with street sellers or beggars, and this is one of the reasons why I have almost stopped taking their pictures. Anyway, good work here, thanks for sharing, G.
