Hi Christine,
I have a 7000 and have had great experience with the 2800 flash. In fact I bought the 7000, 2800 and two lenses new in 86/87(can't remember now) and they all still work great. What I like about the 2800 is that it has two big ass LED's so you can focus at night. The 4000 has the same.

If you are thinking of using a Wireless print server, they are all parallel. So you'd just have to make sure you are using printer that will work with parralel, my Canon i950 does not.

I use it with the i950 and have nothing but praise for it. In the software settings of the printer select high gloss photo film, if you have that option.
Go to ilford's website:

Phil- Ilford paper is dirt cheap at B&H. The local shop to me, Mikes Camera has it for about $16/25, I think B&H has it for $12/25.
For anyone else that wants the info for Ilford paper -

Hello, I have been given all of my fathers old Nikon gear so I really
don't need my minolta any more. I was thinking of selling my maxxum
and it's lenses especially considering how little I use film these
days.
So I ask you, should I sell it as a whole or in parts? I ask this
because the body is used looking as well as the flash. But everything
else is in great shape.
So would I fetch more parting out the following or selling as a whole
and if I do it as a whole how much should I ask for it?
Minolta Maxxum 7000 OK
Minolta 2800 AF OK
Electronic Remote shutter cable Great
Minolta 24mm 2.8 Lens Great
Minolta 50mm 1.7 lens Great
Minolta 28-85 Zoom Great
Minolta 70-210 Lens Great
Thanks for the info.

PS It's not an option to sell the nikon because it was my Dad's.

Hi Phil - I'm not sure of profile, but I make this change when I print with Ilford paper:
Under Main -
Papertype - High Gloss Photo Film.
Works like a champ. There is a PDF available from Ilford. I'll email you a copy.

I cannot say enough about Ilford Gallerie paper. I am using Ilford Gallerie Pearl on a canon i950 and it is just great.

I have a Maxxum 7000 and think it is great.

Well that sucks. Here is my next suggestion:
Uninstall the software
Go to the Terminal in OS X
run this: find / -print | grep -i dimage
See if there is software anywhere that was not uninstalled. Delete it and retry. Uninstall on OS X rarely works right.
Hope it helps.

Thanks Mike. I don't have that one yet. Hopefully it'll last till Minolta makes the DSLR.

Did you uninstall and reinstall the software?
Just a guess.

I have a 7000, I'm the first owner and still use it. It's tought as nails. I've taken it mtn biking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and to punk shows more times then I can count. Still taking great pics.
Although, now Mike Hohner you got me wondering, what is the common problem that they all have. Maybe I don't know...

Hey Steve - I actually posted a question a while back about wether I should go 20/24mm for my wide angle and everyone more or less said go 24mm cause of the learning curve.
Only reason I didn't go 24 Zoom was I already had the 28 zoom. The prime used was $130 at KEH.
Here's a shot with the 24 prime.

Hi Bryan- I am very happy with my minolta 28-85. It goes wide enough for landscapes and tight enough for general use. I think Keh.com has it for something like $179.

Jim - I may be wrong, but the green triangle is no vignette but light effects that happen by the lens being at a certain angle to the light source, get a hood for the lens. My 28-85 has one.

If you're thinking G5 get the Leica Digilux 1. I really like mine. It's a fine point and shooter. Or if you feel like being creative you have all sorts of control.

Hi Nelson- I have a 28-85 Zoom that I use all of the time. I have the f1.7 50mm and don't use it, bought a 24mm and don't use it, bought a 70-210 and barely use it. But I throw that 28-85 on and I never really want to use another lens now that I own other lenses.
On the other hand, I have a 70-210mm, 50mm and a 24mm for sale!

I just bought the current cable release for my 7000 and it works fine.
