I think this is a lovely photo and nice gesture on the photographers part to post it as a tribute to IWD. It shows his ability to think freely without the confines of political correctness.
  1. I like this photo. I think it is a wonderful concept and vision and for the most part well executed. For me, the lines of light on her (it's) upper lip and righ cheek are distracting from the texture of the skin (surface).

I sau it's a manequin because I looked at the rest of the folder. There is some great stuff there with well executed visions that I respect. But it seems to me that, and this really is just my opinion that.. the use of manequins is really just a good practice tool or exercise in learning.

To do the same thing with real people would really prove skill.

Do this same shot with the right model and you'll get 7/7 from me.

Conor... great photo. I recognized right away what was happening with 3 very important elements of a seisiun. An Irish Flute, a fiddle and a pint of Guiness. Oh, and obvious craic!

I am a regular seisiun participant in Michigan where I play whistle, pipes and occasionally a little upright bass when I can get away with it.

I've wanted to photograph our seisiun as well but have not done it yet and have been curious about approaches to the subject. I look forward to advice here.

    Are you a musician?

Mercedes... wonderful work. I agree with the other comment that said they stopped breathing when they first saw the image. I'm still not breathing! Very sensual and beautiful. Not only the model but the moment. (now breath Frank, breath)

    Thoughtful

I don't see a nude child as some have suggested, I see a child without a shirt on. What kind of mind assumes she is nude without seeing the larger picture? I have no way of knowing what is below the photo.

I don't see a child looking at her undeveloped breasts. That never occured to me until I read someone's comment. So I studied the image and she is looking at her arm. I see a child looking downward with a thoughtful look. What kind of mind assumes she is looking at her "breasts"?

I don't see pornography. I see a beautiful moment captured. What kind of mind assumes this is pornography?

I don't see an exploited child as some suggest. I see innocence illustrated. I see trust. I see love. What kind of mind assumes she is exploited and then recommends that her parent continue to exploit her.

I live in the Midwest of the USA. A region noted for it's morally conservative views. During the summer, at beaches, in yards, it is not uncommon to see girls of this age with out a shirt on.

I am concerned that so many comments used the word nude. One dictionary defined nude as: 1. Having no clothing; naked. 2. Permitting or featuring full exposure of the body.

This does not fit that definition. What kind of minds wants it to fit that definition.

Unfortunately, what I do see is that with many of the comments, a vitriolic tone. Some have voiced there concerns evenly and with control. But many have not and I wonder what kind of mind responds so quickly with such vitriol.

I venture to guess this child will one day, as a woman, look back at this image with pride and fondness.

A great photo. It looks cold though but I doubt that it was. But waht it does look is animalistic. She looks like she belongs there. Lives there. There was a comment that hinted at a military setting but I think it's a much more animal setting. Seeing her bare shoulders and bare buttocks makes here look like you've captured her in her natural environment. Very original. For my taste the eyes could even be bluer.
  2. Yes, I think it's a nice combination and interesting. But what is the right most blue subject? I think because I can recognize what the first three are (from left to right)and do not know what the right most image is that it does detract from the overall piece.

I don't know what the idiots did that were bad things but I do know that they must be an extreme minority. As soon as I saw this image of your beautiful smile, I thought this is exactly what you should be doing to the "idiots", laughing in their faces, because simply, they don't matter.

Glad you stuck around and continue to share your art with us.

I like the subtle yet distinct tones. This is a soft photo because of the tones and in that has a relaxing calming effect. There is almost an implied movement in the stones because of the composition and the little "wake" like shapes in the sand "trailing" the stones.

    Good-bye

Tamara... I don't know the nature of the negative comments or emails but I do know they must come from disturbed people.

Many photographers do a lot of work with one primary model. You've found that model in yourself and I can't think of a model that would be more cooperative and easier to work with.

I've never seen your work as self-portraiture. Your work is just simply beautiful and inspired work. It just seems to me that you've found the best model available to work with and that was yourself.

To hell with the critics. They are cheap and everywhere.

I am not sure what happened that caused that much yellow. Perhaps the scan. The original is not so yellow. Light was mostly candle light with a little orange filtered light. My attempts to color adjust so far have not been successful.

Anyone care to comment on composition and aesthetics with exception to the yellow?

My most complex still to date. I was commissioned to do this by a

person opening a new women's salon called 'Provance'. I was asked to

capture a French country feel. As always, your input, advice and

    ratings are coveted.

Very nicely done and elegant. I wonder about the hotspots on her knee, ribs and inside elbow... are those desireable? Too hot?

I do love the tones. Skin color is nicely matched to background.
