  1. I am going to be studying in France (Paris and Pont Aven) for 2 months over the

summer. I would like to hear some suggestions as to what lenses/filter..ect...

    to bring along.

    I have a Rebel xti with a Sigma 30mm 1.4 and a canon 85mm 1.8.

I know the 30mm is coming with me, but im not sure how much the 85 will get

used. I have been looking into some kind of wide angel/wide zoom but not sure.

In traveling, what lenses have you found you use most often? Thanks so much.

  2. yeah, i got the email from keh, he said it had the darkslide, but he didnt say anything about the insert. I hope it comes with it, the camera should be here today, but if there is not insert I will have to wait. The only camera store around here that would have that is closed on fridays, and the weekend. Thanks for your input guys.

  3. I just bought a 120 back along with a sqai from KEH. a 120 back, not

    the 120-i. http://www.keh.com/shop/SHOWPRODUCT.CFM?

    CRID=11009649&SKID=SQ1100140004806&SID=newused&BID=SQ&CID=11&SOID=N&cu

    rpic=0&dpsp=0

This is the one, only mine is in exel. condition

Does this come with the insert, and dark slide? I see that the 120-i

back say it is not included, but it says nothing like that on the one

I bought. I thought I would see what you guys think, I emailed KEH,

but I have not heard back yet. Let me know what you think.

  4. Well, I took to MF leap. I just ordered a SQ-Ai system (body,WLF, older 120 back, not 120-i, 80mm ps, and 150mm s lens) Also a SEKONIC L-358 meter. I hope to have years of great fun with this system.

PS, the reason I got a 120 back, rather than a 120-i was that the text describing the 120-i back on KEH led me to beleive that the insert and darkslide did not come with it. Im not sure if that is the case, but I wanted to be safe.

  5. Has anyone had any trouble with there "bargain" parts from KEh, and if

so, what parts would be safe (body, back, lense...) to buy at bargain,

and what would keep for excellent or higher?

    Thanks

    Justin

  6. Wayne, I do see what you are saying... and I am not looking to set up a "bring the family in, and I will put on a funny hat to make your kid smile" kind of studio. I am working on stuff for portfolio, and gallery , (as well as my own home) most resently i have been looking at a hassy 501cm system, please email me with what stuff you have. Thanks for all input.

  7. I will be more than willing to buy furture lenses, as I plan to have this system for years to come. I am an art student and I got grant money for a camera... uncle sam must think it is imortant for me to take better quility pictures... ;)
  8. If you had about $3500 to start a MF system what would you get? I

plan to travel, hope one day soon to have a studio set up, and tend

to like 6x6, but anything would do. So, have a virtual shopping

spree if you will. You may end up convincing me to but your dream

    $3500 set. Have fun.

PS + or - on the $3500 is welcome...

  9. Ok, I see some of the points, and I have read review after review that the h1 is a great camera, I held one at the camera store and it felt like a dream in my had. But hassy has been know for and defend the 6x6 for years. It is the ONLY MF they said, and now they are backing down from that. It is a shame. I am sure it is a great camera, the best 645 has to offer, and I may go with 645 if that is what it comes to, but I love love love that 6x6 look.

PS I agree that the h1 is a better camera than the contax645, but I think they will start making them again (who, I cant say) but it is also about half the price, even less if you can get it used. (not many used h1s yet.

  10. It seems to me that Hasselblad should have made the H1 and H1D a 6x6

format camera. The market of 645D's is becoming a mess, and the

hasselblad is over priced when compaired to say the contax 645af that

has a fast lenes anyway. If it would have been a 6x6, I would

considered it. Is there any possibility of them coming out with a

    6x6 one? (perhaps an H2)...

  11. Ok, I am in the market for a MF camera. I would like one that is good

for studio stuff, but I would also like to travel with it (mamiya rz67

is too heavy from what i gather) I see hat the 645 contax or mamiya

would work well, but I really love the 6x6 format. my only issue with

that is which one 500/200, also I will need to get a metered prism

finder (dont what to have to wake up to every thing to get a good

meter reading, also for eye leave shots, the standard finder does not

work very well. I know this is a bit open ended, but I would love to

hear what people have to say.

    Justin

PS I have not use/held one, but how heavy could the rz67 really be?

    Thanks

  12. thanks for the help guys, I think I will go back and see what the shop has to say. If there was a light leak, I was out if the sun for many of the shots and that could be the problem. The blank frames is what really gets me, the film was in right as far as I can tell, it went under the metal piece and stuff. As for lab issues, I have been going to them for year, and they are the largest pro lab in town, If they were having this big of problems they would have bigger fish breathing down there neck than me. Thanks anain

  13. I am in the market for a MF camera, I just rented a hassy 500c the

other day to get the feel for it, and try it out. I sent the negs off

and when I got them back... only one of the B&W was printable off the

120 roll, I had 2 rolls of 120 color nps and I only got 16 of those

back. Many of these have a washed out blue section in the top right

side (light leak??!?!??) and one even is double exposed. The ones

that came out are great, so I do think is a metering problem. Just

wanted some input before I go to the camera place somewhat upset that

    my money was somewhat wasted.

PS... The B&W one that did not come out are clear negs... almost like

    they were not exposed.

    Thanks, Justin

  14. I can only offer the little that I know. I dont know what we use at school, but I have heard that using d76 at 1:3 will do the job. This is not ideal, but it is my understanding that it will work. Also, im sure you know this, but with lith paper, you must use a red safe light, the amber will fog the paper... this is the best I can do, hope someone else can help more than me.
  15. I had the same thing happen to me last week. I dont know if this is your problem, but I have kinda an old camera, I think what happened is when I put the film in the camera, it did not catch on the take up reel. So that would make it so even though I was advancing the "film" the film itself was not moving. Looking back I did think that it rewond kinda fast.

    maybe that is was happened????

  16. ok. I enjoy printing very much, but when you send color film out to a lab and print it yourself, you are still involoed in the final look of the image. As i am a student my buget is less than I would like. I still have labs there, but lab hours are lame (why are they not open at 3am when I want to print) I will do much processing there, but what I dont do there I would either do at home, or send to a lab. I enjoy processing, but at the same time, I have got to pay the bills. Thanks for input. I will still look into both options.
  17. to thoughs of you that have home dark rooms, do you process your own

film, or do you have a lab do it, and you make the prints. (i talkin

    B&W)

I am just looking to see if really save much money in the end by

doing it yourself. This dark room that I am building will most likly

only be up and running (for me) for about a year, as I plan on

moving. In a years time, would I have saved enough money to pay for

    chem, tanks, reels, ..... ?

    Thanks for any help.

  18. yes, ive seen other posts on this camera, but as you said, not too many responses. I was hoping for a little more info, but I guess if no one has one, then no one can really help. Maybe if nobody has one, that is a sign that I should go with something else... I will keep looking.
