  1. Seung..yes...I will use photoshop anyway. but D100 price is still so expensive. I said much expensive. may be for you it's inexpensive.

I'll wait for several years (3 yrs max) so they may find a way to improve DLSR. Although D100 is already much cheaper than its predecessor D1. I have confindence that next nikon DLSR will be cheaper with improved tech. I Also hate 1.5x multiplier thing on D100.

As a nature and landscape photography, this situation force me to buy another wideangle lens. let's say 18-35mm which is US$ 499.99? Another expensive invesment.

  2. I have been wanting D100 since last month. I changed my mind. D100 have a dust problem. I read some threads about it. Some people complained about it. I found dust and other small particle to be major issue in DLSR. When I tried to digitalized all my films with my scanner it seemed that Mr. Dust didn't go away even though I continuously blower-dusted my films. They just keep on coming.

I never detached my Tamron lens from my Nikon F80 body since I bought them three months ago. When I detached it yesterday I found some particles on the mirror. The dust somehow managed to get inside. I can't imagine this problem on D100. Every small particles will be shown. I will be so frustrated. Meanwhile, I'll stick with Fuji Superia and Wal-Mart developing.

  3. D100:

    1. no films.

    2. no lab processing.

    3. quick results.

    4. easy to store.

drawbacks for right now: expensive but you will start saving after the initial cost recovered. and D100 6.1 megpix can only produce 8x10 quality prints.

after good quality DSLR is getting cheaper, I see no reasons to stay with films. In fact, films are gonna die.

  4. Thanks for recommendation guys.

Jason:I like to travel, so zoom is perfect for me. My interests are mainly landscape, and architecture. People is secondary, only limitted to family and friends. that's all. I am never interested in wildlife because the equipments are much more expensive (correct?)unless the griz bear comes close and strike a pose.

Many of you recommend 24-120 VR or 28-105 IF and 18-35. yeah..I forgot about 1.5x multiplier on D100. It makes me consider 18-35.

The new 24-120 VR is so tempting though. but i still prefer 28-105 IF just because I already have a set of 62 mm filter. the new 24-120 VR is at 72 mm and 18-35D ED IF is at 77 mm. I will need tiffen 62 mm to 72/77 mm step up ring. Has anybody used this step-up rings? How do they affect the lens operation? I'm just afraid it is just creating more vignetting problem in 18-35 mm. If anybody can solve my filters size problem?

Jason: I tried to ditch my 28-200 Tamron. But they only priced it for $75. It's a year old and I bought it for 300-something. I'd rather keep it or give it to my relatives or friends.

  5. thank you for your fast response.

Ellis, thanks for info. I think my tamron lens is similar to G type.

Ed Hopper:"...but the D100 (and S2) are much less demanding of lens optical quality".

are you saying that my tamron 28-300 XR will do just fine?

  6. they are outstanding pictures. I have been wanting to go to all NP's for so long but only 8 Np's so far I visited. it really takes time and effort. until I found your website a couple months ago which boost my morale: "it's do-able". your work has inspired me. Thanks.
  7. I'm looking zoom at range 24-120.

and by the way what is different D and G lense type? is there any difference to operate? G lense is cheaper, it that mean D type is better optically?

  8. I am going to get nikon D100 but I haven't decided what kind of lense

    (s) to fit it. I have two tamron zooms now 28-200, 28-300, and two

bodies F60, and F80. I surely get 50/1.8 as many of you recommended.

I tend to sell 28-200 and keep that 28-300. although my tamron zoom

can fit D100, I doubt it will give the best result. So I prefer Zoom

Nikkor. What do you think the best nikkor zoom lense under USD 600?

I read some review that lense pretty much affects the result on D100.

Thank you. I'm open to suggestion.

  9. Personally I would choose F70 for body because F70 is much better camera than F60. I own F60 and F80. but the lense? I never heard

Vitacon before. I use Tamron 28-200 and it's pretty all-around lense.

what is the brand for 35-80 lens? If it is Nikon lense, go get that F70.
