Is it normal to expect that 1/4 of shots will be improperly focussed when using
the 21mm DA AF? I realize manual focus is an option, but I would hope by this
late date camera manufacturers could have most of the kinks worked out in this
area. Is it the lens or the camera or me? Would a different lens respond
differently? I don't recall this ever being a problem w/ my previous dslr with
its comparable focal length lens. Specifically, this camera has difficulty
locking onto subjects in the foreground, especially when within a meter of the
lens. What is going on here?

Woops, pardon. http://hayashitakafumi.com/ did indeed tank. My apologies.

http://hayashitakafumi.com/ had some worthwhile stuff.
http://genmegane.com/ showed the most potential.
http://www.digikazi.com/ didn't appear to have anything to offer.
The rest at glance looked like a lot of art twaddle.
Thanks for the links.

I saw Chien-Chi Chang (of Magnum) at an event in Taipei (Taiwan) yesterday. It
was the renaming of a public landmark from Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall to
National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. It's a point of contention, so a lot
of people came to either oppose or celebrate the action. Chang was using two
M6's with motor drives. He had a light meter around his neck that he used to
check the light every few minutes. I noticed he seemed unconcerned with joining
the fray of other photogs to get the more sensational shots of people shouting,
posturing, and manhandling each other. He seemed rather relaxed, taking
deliberate shots and being content just to hang around and watch. He had none
of the desperation and excitability of the tabloid crowd flashing away
frantically. Instead he chatted amiably with two other photogs off and on. You
can see his work at magnumphotos.com, of course.
