I am new to Aperture and considering migrating from Lightroom because of A's file management system. I understand the concept of Projects, Albums, Galleries & Smart Folders.

What I would like to know is, when I export a raw file as a 16 bit tiff in a separate folder, how do I make it appear in Aperture without importing each export. E. G. In folder, I have 4-5 projects of the same theme and I would like to keep my tiff files [processed and print ready] in the in the same folder but with a different project name - so when I export a tiff file, I would put it in a different folder but even though I already imported that folder in past [& created a project out of it] Aperture does not automatically update that project with this new tiff file - do I have to import these new tiff files every time ?
Let me know how you manage your final processed file after it's done - I don't want to use Aperture for processing, just for file management.
Thanks in advance for your help

Thank you Adam, I think your comment makes sense.

Hello,
I have been inactive on photo.net for awhile now, but have been busy putting together my website - would love to have your feedback. Focus is more on photography than to flaunt web-design skills - so I have consciously kept it very simple - http://www.luciddrift.com Thank you so much for your time, D

Thank you folks, thanks a lot !

60mm is better glass according to photo zone, but you also want to look at what focal length you are looking for and how much weight you want to carry. 60mm is sharper, cheaper and smaller than 100mm but 100mm would give you higher maginification and full frame compatibility.
Both are great optics btw.

Edward, I am not ready to invest in a thorough color caliberation; just want to caliberate it visually.

I just got a dell 2007wfp and would like to know what RGB settings in display
you guys use. I have connected it to my laptop [e1505] as a dual screen; my
another question is, is there any way to tweak RGB settings on a laptop lcd ?
I have intel 950 integrated graphics.
Thanks

why not get 10-22 instead of 17-40 ...

Thanks a lot Guys !

Thanks for replying Vandit, do you think 3-4 days would suffice, if the the trip is only for photography ?
Thanks again !
-
RML, I don't want to insult you either, but did you go through all those four pages and see if it answered my question ? 'I' did and it didn't ...
Thanks for your effort, btw

I am planning to photograph Varanasi, India around late October this
year. I am sure there must be a lot of people from photo.net who
have visited Varanasi and I was looking for some advice; as in which
places/ghats/temples/lanes/markets to visit/photograph. I am
thinking of limiting this trip to only 3-4 days, do you guys think
it would enough to cover major locations [i know its never enough]
but still & any central/convenient place to stay ?
Thanks in advance

When is it a good time to visit Eastern Sierra to capture vibrant
spring colors ? Is there any website provides such information ?
Thanks

I posted this question on Tripod section, but didn't receive any reply.
I am in market for a good [light & sturdy] field tripod. I would not
be doing strenuous hiking with this tripod but would be roaming around
quite a bit & I am 5'4".
I have narrowed down to Bogen 3021BN [weighs 5.1lb, 53" high & $140] &
Velbon 630A [Carbon Fiber, weighs 3.4lb, 55" high & $290]... both goes
pretty low for macro work and velbon carries almost twice the capacity
of Bogen.
In terms of durability, is there any difference between aluminium &
CF. In worst conditions, I would be shooting in waist deep water or snow.
I don't see myself using anything larger than 70-200 f4 L for time
being. Velbon is 1.7lb lighter than bogen ... do you guys think the
weight difference is worth the extra cost [$150] ... money is not a
real issue & I would go with Giotto MH-1003 ball head for light-
weight travel.
Thanks in advance

John, I am not an expert in cross-processing and this is my first attempt. Whatever I have read/seen on photo.net and flickr.com about cross processing my results look consistent, as far as provia 100f is concerned. Btw, I am using something called new lab, located in SF and it is considered as a very reliable lab.
I would love to see if you have better cross-processed shots & if you could explain any technical details.
-
"IMO nothing positive was accomplished by cross processing...rarely is"
John, thanks for preaching us what we should be doing and we should not be doing, energy well-spent !!

At present I am corresponding with few local private galleries for
exhibitions and I usually face the ?Edition size? question. Could
someone explain me how to decide about the edition size and which
type of photographs should be of limited edition and which unlimited
edition and its impact on pricing?
I understand that as the size of the photograph increases the
edition size decreases.
Thanks for all the help

I used 100 ISO film and exposed it at ISO 80 ... exposures were more or less accurate.
I selected Provia because, I had seen some really interesting results with the discontinued provia and provia 400. Now I am experimenting with Kodak slides.

Sinai behind the lens shutter options
in Large Format
Posted

I am new to large format photography. I just recently bought Sinar F2 & RODENSTOCK (APO-SIRONAR S) SINARON SE 135MM 5.6 75° MC ON DB SINAR LENS BOARD. I didn’t realize that the lens won’t have the shutter.

What are my options? Do I have to buy behind the lens shutter made my Sinar, which goes for like 450$? Is there any other solution, which won’t cost me so much money?

Thanks & sorry for naive questions,
