1.
There are some outstanding and very creative photos here, really to many excellent ones for me to post on them all.
But the man and baby photo really grabs me, and brings a smile to my face.
Thanks for posting Dennis

 3.
Thank you Mauro
I guess I just didn't look far enough.
I have not had any problems with the previous version, so will give the new version a try for a while before I dump the older version. All I have used View NX for is to view photos and run a slide show, for weeding out the photo I don't want. Any processing I do is in Capture NX2. The new version does have a few new features.
4.
I would definatly buy the SB700. It is more user friendly than a SB600 and also the SB700 can be used as either a comander or a remote, where as the SB600 can not be used as a comander only a reomte. The SB700 will leave the door open for more opertunities later on should you decide to and a secound flash.
Flash photography can seem confusing but the basics are really quite simple, and there is some very good online tutorauls.
Even in good light some times a little fill flash can make a picture that is outstanding.
Good luck with your choice.
I have gotten to where I use an SB800 on camera and up to four SB600s as remotes.

 5.
On the Fred Miranda forum there is a discussion going on now that is on manual focus lens, it is over 60 pages and should give you every thing you want to know on the older lens. A lot of the older lens are very good on digital.

 6.
I have to admit I have had to reffer to the flash manuals a few times to set things up, and if I haven't use the flashes for a while I need to do a little refresh with the manuals. But all in all it is a very good system. I normally use an SB800 with an sc17 cord or on camera as the master and four Sb600s as remotes. I have had excellent results indoors and outdoors. Some day I will probably get pocket wizards or some thing to get out of having to have every thing in line of sight.

 7.
You can expect amost any kind of weather, as summer comes and it warms up inland it produces fog and northwest winds on the coast. This can actually make for some very nice coastal photos, the coast north of SanFrancisco is very rocky and very photogenic. Just north of the city is Point Reyes which is very nice. If you want a Golden Gate Bridge photo the classic shot is on the south side at the beach just west of the bridge, 20 miles south of San Francisco is HalfMoon Bay nice small bay with a lot of commercial and sport boats and a good spot for surfers. Lke some one else mentioned Sana Crus the board walk and amusement park is a must see. Monterey Aquarium. I live in Oregon but used to fish salmon from SanFrancisco to Montery may and june, so i am just going by what I felt was photogenic in that area that I could get to by bus or tram. Depends on where you are from, I am from a small city so San Francsico could keep me busy for at least two or three days, for a one day pass you can ride all busses, trams, and cable cars, a very inexspensive way to see things in the city.
Have fun I am sure you will enjoy your trip
8.
Lim
You have a good setup.
I think what I would add would be an SB800 flash this will be able to move up with you should you ever go digital. Orther than a flash possible a macro lens, I think the 100mm is the best balanced for all around use.
I sold my F100 when I went digital, I do miss that camera and might get another one. I love Fugi Reala the color including skin tones were just great.
I think you have made some very good choices in gear, and the amount you are shooting film is the way to go. Hopefully you have a good lab in your area. Where I live all the local labs have closed their doors, that was a big reason I went digital, I just need to get a decent printer now and I will be set.
Nikon has stopped making scanners so they are going to get harder to find and I doubt the price will come down.
Good luck
9.
I can't understand why Nikon can't come up with a new coating that doesn't have this problem.
When I got rid of my N90s for an F6 the N90s was smooth plastic all over ( no more rubber)
This is still a problem with new cameras today

 11.
I bought a brand new F100 from a local camera store last year for $275, it had been sitting on the shelve for a very long time and they just wanted to get rid of it.
If you are looking for an F100 it is worth looking at all the smaller stores you can.
Other that an F6 I feel the F100 is Nikons all time best camera.

 12.
I like fugi reala, but at asa 100 it might be a little slow for you.
I love the colors it produces and it scans quite well.
Good luck, I am sure it will be an exciting trip with lots of photo ops

 13.
There is a new nikon 35 f1.4
I wish I could afford two camera, how ever I don't make a living with photography.
I could and do shoot 95% of my photos with a 35 f2 and a 85 f1.4 on a D3, so I can see where you are coming from.
And I think a crop body and a full frame would be nice.
Brand choce is a personal decsion, I think both brand produce excellent gear, I do think nikon has the edge with flash.
Good luck what ever you decide, confidence in your gear is very important.
14.
Ask your doctor about taking vitamin D for your carprel tunnel. I have had two surgeries on each wrist, whitch did not help. My Doctor put me on 50,000 units of vitaminD injectable 100 units a week, and it has been a miricle, I wish they would have tried the vitamin D before any of the surgery. I still have a very mild pain in my wrist, but very livable.
Sorry maybe this post doesn't belong here, I am just hoping I can help D. B. Cooper

 16.
Did you have the master flash set to group A.
You do have some thing set wrong, I work with hummingbirds and use and sB 800 on the caera as a master and four SB600s as remotes and they will fire when the sun light is quite bright.
reread the manual, I know it took me some time to get it all figured out
good luck Dennis

 18.
Art Wolfe uses a 500mm with a 1.4 TC for bears in Alaska.
I would still feel that would put me in a little uncomfortable zone, bears can move extremely fast if they want.
Of course what you don't see is the back up person with a rifle.

 19.
I live in a smaller community of 70,000 people.
And our last camera store that did any proccessing just closed. They did an excellent job on custom work. So now I am going to have to send my film out.
I started using digital two years ago, and may be it is time for me to purchase a quality printer and do my own printing.
It was nice to leave film or a cd off locally and get what I wanted since the person doeing the printing knew what I wanted.
I don't think film is going away for many years yet, but most of us will have to send it out of town to be proccesd and printed. Certainly not as convienent.
