  1. Hey,

I have just upgraded from 35mm and bought a hasselblad 500 cm kit.

In 35mm I always used Neopan 1600 rated at 800 and that was the film I loved, in

medium format they don't have this film, can anyone recommend a similar film?

I know there is Ilford 3200 that I could pull to 1600 and maybe get similar

    results...

But can anyone recommend any other film to try?

My shots are located at http://www.gregallum.co.uk so you can get a feel for my

    work...

    Thanks

    Greg

  2. wow...thanks for the all the replies, I'm a big fan of Bailey, Newton and Beaton.

I, myself, shoot with Nikon FM3A's and specialise in portraits in the music industry mainly so am looking to expand and considering medium format, just finance is an issue. Hasselblad seem to be the top of the range, but theres something about Rollei's that i'm attracted to.

check out my work and see what you think

Rollei's could be the way forward ?

  3. Hey Bill,

Thanks for that extensive answer :)

What I'm wondering about or concerned is about the 25% Gross, say if a publisher for example gives me $100,000 for this book.

    What does the agent take?

and how different is that from 25% Net, how does it affect me?

and surely I only pay 25% to the agent for work they've brought in, I can sell photos off of my website/photo galleries off of my own back and not have to give them the 25% cut.

  4. Hey,

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully reply...

I'm working with an agent on a series of photos that are being turned into

coffee table books, all my own original ideas and content.

They want 25% for any book deal, gross rather than net. This seems fair.

But they also want 25% of any merchandising deals from the photos and 25% from

any print sales in galleries from exhibitons.

Basically 25% from anything to do with the project/book...

I'm unsure about the last 2 details...

Is this standard practice with agents?

Should i expect all agents to want 25% of everything or should i expect them to

just want 25% of the book deal and no more?

    thanks

  5. Hey

I'm looking for a model release for a project I'm doing...

Basically i need it to state that I will only use the photos for

exhibitions/prints and the coffee table book I'm producing at the end.

Also that I own copyright and that If i want to use the photos in any other

context apart from the above, then I will need written permission from the

    subject...

Just so it covers my back and eases the subjects mind etc..

Any ideas where i can get one or if i write one myself, what i should state etc..?

  7. Hey,

Hoping someone can help me, I've been shooting in Car Parks in England

for the last week or two and the results with their lighting...and my

film (push/pull dev) is amazing. I'm looking to recreate the lighting

on other shoots, does anyone know what light I'd need ( i know i just

want to have a big long strip light above my subject )...and where I'd

be able to obtain this type of light w/ stand ?

    Thanks
