I love how the white clouds are mirrored in the moving water.  I like how both lines lead to the pyramidal rock.  Love the tones and the feel brought about by the moon light and the wet rocks.

only thing - I would like bit more info on shooting details.

this is a very complex image with many different and interesting pieces that have arranged in a wonderful way.  The tonal range of the image is beautiful.  For me, the subtleties of tone, the mixture of intriguing character items are balanced by the pure pissed off look on that cat's face.

I love this image. I find it be very calming. I think that the tints that people think they see on the sides are simply coming from the background leaf colours as I see almost oranges on the right and dark yellows on the left and the leaves in the background. I like the composition and I'm not even a rule of thirds blind believer. I always look at an image in two ways: 1. would I like a print an my wall; 2. do I wish I had taken the photo. This image fits both counts.

although there are a few minor things - I agree with a previous poster in that the soft starfish in the lower left corner, I still would put a print of this on my wall. Nice shot. Wish I had taken it.

I recently purchased a Nikon D50 body(the antique); this is with the 16-85mm lens. A

2-stop Singh-Ray in the upper left corner.

I was heading home after an overnight jaunt to find orchids, the clouds were moving as

a weather front passed through and this lonely tree appealed to me.

  1. after a quick 700km journey one day, and with the intention of finding orchids, I woke

the next morning to this - fog and rain. The backroads got wet, my tires have no tread

and I left for home and the 700km trip at noon. Got some orchids though.

as the sun was setting, I discovered this spruce grove, saw the lines of changing

colour within and tried to show it as dark as I saw it. I do not know what is

underground but they were like streams flowing through the woods. I did not lighten the

the trees because, in this light, this is how they were; equally, the saturation levels

    were like this, too.

    thank-you for looking.

so, I see the train sitting there and found a convenient road/railway crossing at which to

position my D70IR with 18-70 and wait. I know I want the train to leave the image so

accordingly, get a slow shutterspeed through various means and wait. The train comes

along and picks up speed. I'm set. Did you know trains blow their whistles when they come

to highway crossings? When you are standing about 15 feet/5 meters away, this can very

loud, very, very loud. I think I have lost the hearing in my left ear, my right ear is no longer

    talking to me.

this was achieved using the so-called "orton effect" as provided by Darwin Wiggett; the

image was taken in sept./07 in while on a weekend shooting with a friend - no good moose

photos tho ... nachos were amazing

one of the benefits of living where I do is the skies ... this image was taken by my recently-

aquired IR converted D70s of a harvested canola field on my way home from work.

The camera seems to do nice things almost by itself. I just sit and watch the back LCD and

    go "wow"

perhaps too much saturation? bumped up the greens and yellows a fair bit

and tried to hold the shadows and highlights but perhaps it was overkill.

and if you ever go there, take bug spray- lots.

they sit beside the road, just south of the Pine Pass ...the falls are

small, the creek doesn't have that much volume. Most people just stop

to use the washrooms - there is nothing spectacular here ...

a found object, as it were, at the end of a road in southern Manitoba,

I have downloaded an action for doing Orton images and now I can't

control myself but I have a problem: Images posted here seem darker

and flatter than what I see on my screen. What am I doing wrong?

I had stopped to visit with friends who were shooting in Jasper

National Park, Alberta, Canada last autumn but had to go out east to

the nearest larger town ... they later told me they had sun all day, I

    didn't.
