This is a great shot!
When Miguel Lasa says that this one is not manipulated I believe him!
However, this shot LOOKS artifical - but that may change if you see the print...

The highlights are burnt out, however the idea is nice - but pay attention to the many distracting elements in such shots.

IMO the colour in this picture is essential! B&W doesn't work here for me.
The similar skin colours of the poster and the real people are some sort of connection between fiction and reality.
This emphasizes the anticlimax even more.

Very nice composition, colour and light! The only point of critique I can make is that the green leaf on the left side ends behind the white bloom. This is a little bit distracting.

Can't tell if the polarizer is causing this lack of sharpness! But it is at least possible.
Conspicuous is that the right edge is very unsharp.
To test your filter I suggest looking through it with a binocular or a small telescope!
That would immediately reveal any defect!
