I like it the way you originally posted. All parts seem necessary for the point/counterpoint aspect of the elements. The subject wearing the same color as the train made her linked to the train. excellent seeing and sense of composition. Thank you for sharing this image.

nice find Don, I like the depth of field you've been able to get and the hints of natural elements in the background. I don't get lucky to find dragonflys hanging out long enough to get a photo. The 180 with micro flash should help... now, I've just got to hang out till a dragonfly happens along.

Jeri, clicking through today's ho-hum submissions in the gallery, this image stopped me, first by curiosity and I lingered, taken in by what appeared at first to be an astrophotography subject, but then perhaps a look at earth from above. The combination of hues and saturation kept my eye for a while longer finally realizing your subject. The course my mind had to take as well as arrangement of elements in the image make for a sort of haiku with the mind taking that leap needed in successful haikus. Excellent image.

excellent image Marc. This version for the internet sharpened to show a light halo along the sky/rim line. You might try (immediately after sharpening) doing a Edit>Fade Unsharp Mask with a change in the blending mode to "Darken". The sharpening will be isolated to the dark side and light halos will disappear.
Snowshoer? You should come up to Mount Tahoma Trails near Mt Rainier to our hut-to-hut system with grand views of Mt Rainier, the southern Cascades and Mt St Helens. http://mounttahomatrails.org

elegant simplicity, originally, I thought the ripples above the bird were distracting but after looking at the photo for a while, decided that it gave the bird location that isn't given by the very calm water and ripples in the reflection.
This image is interesting to look at sideways too.

sensuous, elegant, and simple
an interesting version of a classic pose seen differently

I'd like to see a little more saturation on the green stems or take some blue that is reflected in the stems out... you'd get more saturated greens.

I like it... the only thing that I think would improve this excellent image is to add an eye highlight to make it appear alive... When viewing an image of an animal, it seems that the presence of an eye highlight gives life to the subject.your wide black framing on the sides with black appears to be squeezing the subject. It doesn't bother me and I think it perhaps adds the the tone of the image both color and physical.

I disagree with your comment. The tight cropping was on purpose and a very good style... sure, the top of the hat and part of his head was cropped off but they weren't needed to make the image - they don't have to be included because they are implied. Now, if the right side had been cropped, then there would be a problem... he needs space to look into and the fact that his gaze isn't at the camera but toward the space given... the close cropping is a style the photographer appears to have a very good grasp on...

I passed through Temecula on my way to Anza-Borrego this spring. I was surprised how far the sprawl has spread... I drove down from Antelope Valley and then at Temecula crossed the mountains... I didn't feel comfortable till I was well into the mountains.

excellent image... reminds me of the images I missed sailing here in Puget Sound... the glow on the boom and water make the image...

I like your choice of panorama for this image and the negative space... the man's head leaning toward the edge too --they break the rules of many but to me provide something to grab attention and cause wondering what it means... the eye highlights give a surreal feeling or something of supernatural... personally, I think I would have minimized the highlights but that would have been a cop out on my part... you went boldly with it and I think very successful...
the only thing that trips me up is the black border... it cause my eye to linger there without reason... the top and right side fade to black gradually but the bottom abruptly... your choice of black framing is your signature for this image and being so, a style not to be questioned.

I think the image speaks for itself with no frame

Jeri, how do you protect this succulent from freezing? Agave will handle frost but I thought it freezes easily which kills it.

excellent image... from the warm advancing flowers to the receding cool background... I also like how you included a narrow band between the two. I think the lack of reflections in the flowers is very much a plus in this image. 'an inspiration for my morning...

I think you can give more impact to this excellent image by cropping to square... the round hole seems naturally cropped to square. the bottom doesn't contribute to the image so I suggest cropping part of it off...not too much though so that the feeling is changed.

your subject needs an eye highlight more pronounced to give it life. The feathers don't seem very sharp and the green text really detracts from the image.

pleasing warmth with just enough blue to balance the image. the frame added seems to detract from the image.

if an image has fog diffused details, I like to see something close that is sharp to give reference to what is sharp. I like how you done so here... the only thing I would change about this image is to crop a little of the right side off to minimize the dark branches at the top... the right side also has that dark brown area that doesn't add anything to the image...

nice image... the only thing I would change is to darken the left side of the leaf... perhaps color it green with blending and masking another layer.

excellent... the only thing that bothers me (personal taste) is the line entering the photo in the corner...

Excellent image composition and subtle color...
'looks like one I photographed at the National Botanic Garden in DC. the circles of color and radials of texture... nice

I think this image would have more appeal if cropped to a panorama down to where the interest is... this is the place you told me about across the lakes, I'll bet.
