  1. All,

thanks for your thoughts and insight on the 2nd body issue.

Personally, my reason is not the spare body as in my use (knock, knock, touch wood (swedish expression)) no body has ever let me down, with either Leica nor Nikon. So my reasons are:

    1. I want one (M6TTL 0.58)! Nothing else.

    2. The lens switch issue, being quicker to take the shot instead of fumbling with the lenses.

    3. Being able to shoot with both B/W and colour at the same time.

  2. I am the process of getting a 2nd M6TTL body, a 0.58 version to

    complement the 0.72TTL I have.

I am in no intrest of adding a M6 Classic nor a M2, M3 etc.

What were the reasons you added a 2nd body?

Was it for having B/W film in one body, colour in the other?

Was it for having each lens to its dedicated body?

Please let me have your reasons.

  3. A point worth noticing is, a black body with black lens is always less noticable than a titanium or chrome. I would assume that you see more pro's with black combo's than etither chrome or titanium. Don't think I ever seen a pro with a titanium combo, "all" NG shooters seem to go for black, and we all know their budgets are " tad" higher than us average Joe's...

Go black, I traded a chrome equipment for black, it took a heavy beating money wise, but still haven't regretted it.

  4. I have the Domke F-803 (like almost everyone else;-)) and I am

extremly please with this bag. As I am in search for a 2nd M6TTL

body, I was wondering if the bag can fit 1 M6TTL with 35/2 Summicron

ASPH with hood attached in one end and 1 M6TTL with 90/2.8 Elmarit-M

in the other. Still to have the single compartment in the middle

though. I tried searching, but couldn't find any diskussions to this

    combo.

Yes, I know this IS the eternal "boring" "which bag" diskussion.

Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

  5. I agree to the above answers.

I used to have the poor mans 600mm, namely the 300/2.8 AF-I with TC-20E. This combo focuses OK. Now I have a longer lens as well , the 500/4 AF-I. So much better to use than a 600, unless you have someone to carry the beast!

If you have the money go for the AF-S II, so much lighter. The difference in my book between AF-I & AF-S is less.

  6. Thanks Sal, I agree that only the user her/himself can decide whether it is comfortable. My initial try-outs were with my Nikon F5 with 80-200 AF-S(sorry I know this is a Leica forum), and thought if that works why shouldn't work with a M6 with a 35mm, it does, although the feeling is of course much better/greater with a longer lens.

  7. I am not sure if anyone else has heard about the "proper way" how to

carry your camera when not using it.

I read somewhere that pro's when not using this particular camera, or

using another body, they hang it over the shoulder with lens IN.

Stating that the camera body takes any knocks better than the lens.

Has anyone comments on this? I have tried it myself( both Leica and

Nikon) with various lenses, and it actually feels better as well as

being more still on the shoulder.

Noticed Karen Kasmauski carried her spare Nikon in the Jan 03 isse of

National Geographic with lens out though.

  8. I can only add positive comments to the bags previously named, the F-803 from Domke and the MClassics bags.

However I cannot see the issue about the Domke being worn, I you could buy them "pre-worn" I would. My issue is only, as I am looking for a 2nd M6TTL (2nd hand), making the combo M6TTL+35/2 ASPH 'Cron+ M6TTL+90/2.8 Elmarit-M, I think the wonderful 803 might be too small, any thoughts on that?

  9. Mitch,

Thanks for your deep concerns about my decision!

Well, I guess you are right about the Internet/ dog description, but it sort of cuts it for me. The things that have "bothered" me is mainly, as others also stated, the filter size, and as I said previously, the lens hood not taking the lens cap on the non-ASPH version, for me the optical performance has not let me down. I mainy shoot with Kodak Portra 400BW or 400 CN, and hand hold. Leica M and tripod use doesn't match in my book, but I'm sure others disagree. Therefore I cannot say, due to this I "must" upgrade to the ASPH. So wanting and needing are two different things in this matter.

  10. I don't remember writing anywhere that I got to have the latest equipment. For the record ALL my equipment has been purchased 2nd hand, both Leica and Nikon. Call me vain, but would be caught dead with any Cannot equipment, how good it may be. With the rapidly changing and upgrading that brand is having on the lenses, the comments you are reffering to must be directed at users of that brand.

By the way, thanks for not answering my, initially intended, kind request for help.

  11. Thanks so far for the input.

No I (unfortunately) do not problems with money burning any holes, we just got our first son 6 weeks ago, and I'm already realising the cost of diapers!+ I did a sort of financially stupid thing about 2 years ago when changing my chromed equipment (M6TTL + 35/2 Summicron ASPH, and 90/2 Summicron (pre-APO)into the prevoius stated equipment in black). I therefore wish to do this right!!

One thing, might sound a bit vain, but with the ASPH version you can have the lens cover over the hood as well, I know you shouldn't have it on but sometimes it would be neat to be able to do so.

One reason could be I'm bringing this up is I (unfortunately)read Puts' review on the comment "does not bear the Leica badge with full honor" sort of stuck with me...

  12. Hi all,

I have the last version of the non-ASPH and after a lot of reading

about how much greater the ASPH version is, I am getting a little

curious, should I replace it and take the finacial hit, or should I

stick with it? It has nothing to do with the 35/2 Summicron being an

    ASPH version...

Please let me have your comments.

I also have the the 35/2 Summicron ASPH, and 90/2.8 Elmarit-M and a

    0.72 M6TTL. I hopefully will add an 0.58 M6TTL as well.

    Thanks,

    Patrik
