Bounce
-
Here is a quick example. White/Black backdrop. First shot is direct and second is bounced. White walls and white ceilings.
-
I am under the impression that exposure should be the same with ETTL2 regardless
of whether a flash is bounced or not. Obviously shadows will look different but
the exposure should be the same should it not?

Thanks for the replies......

Looking for something similar to Apples iBook. Essentially I want a more
professional book than Apple offers but I do not want a leather bound book. I
tried a search but only results for for "how to" books.
Any recommendations?
-
Thanks for the info. Not sure how I missed that thread in the search.

What do you get with the full version that is missing with the Beta? I have just
begun to play around with the Beta and I am content thus far. But am curious
what I am missing from the full version.

Need some clarification on the 30D flash metering. My 10D like all previous
bodies(?) switched over to evaluative metering mode if I recall correctly. I
know that the 30D is E-TTL II but does that change the metering mode? Manual
isn't specific on this topic.

Sorry for the duplicate post but I just realized this probably fits better in
the Digital Forum.........
"Looking for some holiday photo borders, preferably a Photoshop plug in or
something similiar, for an upcoming photoshoot. Essentially shooting a family
event and want to add a Christmas border to the images before final printing.
Lots of googling has turned up more ads for junk than I could ever have
imagined. Therefore if anyone has any tips I am open to ideas.
Thanks"

Or you can just buy the PocketWizards Plus set. Do you need the Plus II for a specific reason?
-
My Strobes take a standard 1/8" mini cable. This is the same connecter the
pocket wizard uses. Had trouble locating my "Pocket Wizard" branded mini to mini
cable($24) and no one has them in stock here. I grabbed a $4 cable from Radio
Shack. Does anyone see any problems with using this generic cable. I can't
imagine there is anything special about the PW branded cable.

Thanks for the answers guys. Puppy, is that BP-E1 that I would need? That is about all I can find on B&H.

I am slightly confused on this combo. About half the info I read says
that in order to remove the pb-e2 and shoot with just the body you
need to install the original grip. I was told by the sales rep that
the pb-e2 was just a cover that fits over the original body and that
there is no "original" body only grip.
Bottom line is I will shoot half the time with the grip off and I am
buying used so I need to know if something else needs to be purchased
or even can be.
I searched but could not find exact info.
-
Thanks for the additional info. So to be clear the PB-E2/EOS 3 combo cannot use a 2CR5. It can only handle the 2CR5 if not connected. Correct?
-
ok then to further the question...........will the pb-e2 take the standard batteries that are used in the EOS 3. (2CR5 I believe)
-
What are the differences between these boosters? I am finding
conflicting information from multiple sources. Some say they both have
vertical shutter release some say only the PB-E2 does.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try one of Colorvisions products and see how well they work.

My current setup is one laptop and one desktop pc connected to the
same monitor via a KVM switch. I have calibrated the monitor with the
laptop (Adobe Gamma). If I copy the icc profile over to the desktop
shouldn't the image be the same on both machines? The desktop image
seems to be more washed out.
I obvioiusly cannot do a side by side comparison since there is only
one monitor.
any thoughts?

Received error with or without card.

I am looking into the Colorvision Spyder2. I will not be calibrating a
printer. Just my LCD and CRT. Is there another solution out there that
offers calibration of my Minolta Scan Dual IV? I don't scan too much
but I can never seem to get the scan to match the slide. Will merely
calibrating my monitor take care of this or is there something else
that needs to be done? (i.e. scanning a slide of a color palette and
calibrating from there)
Thanks for any info.........

Beginning this past summer I started receiving the dreaded "error 99"
on my 2yr old 10D. I only use canon lenses and it happened at various
times with any lens combo. There was never a solid factor that I could
nail down that would cause the problem. It has increasingly become a
problem in the last 6 months and it was to the point that after every
five frames or so it would lock up.
I use the BG-ED3 99% of the time with both batteries installed. I have
cleaned the contacts on both body and lens numerous times and was
getting the error with the battery pack on or off. Then it dawned on
me that all of my "testing" included the original battery that shipped
with the camera. And when I had the battery pack installed that
battery was one of the two most of the time. I have no way of knowing
if it was in the camera every time the error occurred, however. The
contacts looked fine but I cleaned them anyway and I am now unable to
duplicate the error (fingers crossed). I am unable to duplicate the
error with the other two batteries as well.
I just thought I would throw this out there as I have never seen it
mentioned as a potential cause. Maybe this info will help someone else
who was/is as frustrated as I was.

I guess I was referring to the 1D. I did not realize the new 1D and 1Ds were 1/250. Oh well one can dream of high sync speeds.
