I am a hotel and resort photographer professionally, but also take a lot of travel photography just for pleasure. As a far as I am concerned anything which captures the essence of a place can be termed travel photography, regardless of what camera it is taken on. The photograph below was taken on Nikon's first pro digital camera - the Nikon D1.
