Hi Terri and Patrick, thanks for your comments. Yes the eyes are indeed strange. dark black with no reflection, its about 2-3 inches across. These are very large birds. It was feeding time at the pier- you should see them swallow the fish, quite extraordinary

Always nice to be there to see the Sun rise and welcome another new day
-
Up and out at 6.50 Am, It was cold and chilly. Started off badly,
overcast and dark cloudy sky, nothing to see, I headed back.. Suddenly
the sun broke through the clouds.. it was worthwhile after all!

Appreciate any comments and observations thank you

By the time we took the 3 hour drive, it was sunset. Talk about good
timing I guess...

I like this shot very much! it looked like a church service until I had a closer look and saw the sofas. Is this Regent Hotel? My only comment is that a tighter crop to cut off the signposts would be good.

Great picture! the trishaw, the birdcages and the 2 persons are so perfectly balanced. Actually, I somehow see more trishaw drivers sleeping than working; they can be next to a busy street snoring away!

thanks for viewing!

Thank you for taking the time to look through my portfolio! Yes I can understand what you are saying. Actually getting down to the temple was not an easy affair, the traffic, the crowds, and also had to jostle with tourists and plenty of other avid photographers. The participants were all very kind to be photographed and we were generally free to walk around. However, out of respect for the ceremony, we felt some restraint and tried not to get in the way. I guess my telephoto 70-200 did help as I could grab images from some distance, but there were some chaps with 50mm prime lenses who really had to bend foreward and poke their camera up close! regards, TH

A Kavadi carrier..
This man is one of many who carry the kavadi, a large offering to Lord
Subramaniam. The kavadi is heavy, and it's attached to his flesh with
metal spikes.

Charles and Gino, thanks for viewing and your rcomments! Biplab, yes I'm in Singapore, come visit! you have a great portfolio

Your comments appreciated, thank you

To fulfill vows made to Lord Subramaniam, these devotees have their
tongues and cheeks skewered with long silver needles and metal hooks
pierced to their chest and backs. The most extreme form of devotion is
the carrying of the spectacular Kavadi for the deity.
