The other day my Nikon N80 stopped automatically loading film. It's
almost as if the camera doesn't know there's a film cartridge in
there. I've tried different rolls of film also. When I close the
film back, there's no sound of a struggle or anything. And as a
result I cannot load film into the camera. Any suggestions on how
to try and find out exactly what is wrong?

I had a question regarding printing a slide that has been baffling
me lately. The guy who works in a lab told me to print a slide they
first have to convert it to a negative, then print the negative.
This method seems like the slide will lose quality by the time it is
physically printed, no? It seems as if the print will only be as
good as the negative quality. So my question is.. is this method the
way it is done, or is there another way that slides are printed that
retains more color and such when it is finally printed?

I figured it out. In case anyone else has this problem, the problem was caused by me not seeing the precut end of the film that is smaller than the width of the film that enters the spool. so I created my own cut to insert into the spool, which threw the film numbering off, and everything.
Once I noticed the precut insert everything worked perfectly.

I just recently purchased a Mamiya 645E camera. I'm trying to insert
my film, I seem to be able to do that fine, however when I advance
the film it advances but never "clicks" or stops to let me know I can
take the next picture. Basically I can keep winding it all the way
to the end of the roll from the beginning. I can't seem to figure
out why it's not working. Am I overlooking something? I've looked
everywhere without an answer.

I would shoot a roll and have it developed at a lab, that way you can kind of determine if the problem is your development or your processing.

I havent tried shooting any in Nova Scotia, I've tried shooting them in Florida and I generally need a 400mm - 600mm lens. Only because they seem to be extremely sensitive to sound and you need to get a decent distance away, maybe 50 - 100 feet. They can be very tricky to capture. Ultimately it depends on how close you are to the subject for the lens size.

also, if it's pitch black in the cave or wherever, a huge bright light shining in the animals eye can damage their eyesight. or any animal, even humans.

I feel bad for the people who were attacked by the Bear, however you need to accept personal responsibility. I am in the wild a lot with alligators, bears, panthers, and more. If I happen to get attacked while out there shooting pictures, then I accept the risk. I know the possibility exists. However as long as you understand the animals, and how they behave, you can minimize your risk tremendously.

When shooting water, sky, or anything that the main subject is mostly blue, I prefer Fuji 50.
just a comment :)

I live in Miami, so I shoot pictures in the Everglades in the summer, the towering cumulonimbus clouds produced by the heat over the Everglades makes the whole picture beautiful. And sometimes you can get away with having a bad subject just because the clouds become your main subject.

I was looking at the Fuji GX680IIIS Medium Format camera and I had a
few questions I was hoping some people could answer. 1. There are
two models, the GX680IIIS and GX680III, the GX680III
has "perspective control." What exactly is that perspective control?
On B&H it describes the Film Type as:
Use of Polaroid 3x4 pack and 4x5 sheet films possible with Polaroid
backs available from NPC. Actual Polaroid image size is 8x8cm with
cropped corners.
My next questions now.
2. Does that mean I could use TMAX 4x5 Sheet Film with the camera
ie. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bh2.sph/FrameWork.class?
FNC=ProductActivator__Aproductlist_html___244641___KOTMX4550___USA___
CatID=335___SID=F2F61AE0E40
3. Is Polaroid just a name that manufactures that back, or do I
actually have to use "polaroid" film of some sort.
That's it. Thanks
