  1. <p>If you can, try and overnight in Landmannalaugar. It is a really unique landscape and was my favorite place in Iceland. Also, Skaftafell is also a beautiful area. I would skip Geysir, it was underwhelming. <br>

Iceland is one of my favorite trips I've ever taken. You will be spening a lot less than I did, though!<br>

    Enjoy it!</p>

  2. Does anyone have suggestions for a plain background (white) for an outside shoot that would give a similar feel as a

plain white studio background? I need something simple that will not draw attention and can be mobile.

    Best,

    Andrew

  3. Going to Iceland in one week. I am taking some digital equipment but also my Fuji GSW, what color film would you

bring along? I will have a tripod, so I am planning something in the 50-100 ISO range, but am not settled on slide or

print. I will be scanning for digital print.

  4. I have been contemplating a Epson 3800 versus an Espon 4880, and looked into some math for savings using roll

versus cut paper. I check B&H because it is local and found the following, to my suprise.

Cut 17x22 is app. 2.6 sq. ft. A pack of 50 gives you 130 sq. feet, at a cost of $164.50, or about $1.26 per sq. ft.

Roll paper is 17" by 40', or 1.42 ft. by 40 ft. for a total of 56.7 sq. ft. at a cost of $87.95, or $1.55 per sq. ft.

Is this right? that roll paper costs more than cut paper? Is this typical of all papers? When people speak of

efficiencies using roll paper, are they referring to being able to only print off what one needs versus a whole sheet of

    paper?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  5. Berg:

I was there last october with a Canon 5D, and Rollei and had no problems whatsoever.

It is a marvelous city. The typical amount of care as you would have when traveling in

any big city is necessary (carry wallet in front pocket, keep bags zipped up, etc) apply,

but we had no problems at all. Have a wonderful time!

  6. I never had any problems at Union Station. O'Hare would be a difficult place to photograph. IN the terminal, you are allowed to photograph as long as you aren't capturing the security locations. At least that is how it was a couple of years ago. Be aware of sensitivities to where you are.
  7. Michael. Cuba is something I feel much more passionately about. I spent two weeks there, and the subject matter come more easily for me.

Clearly the photos will be better :) The Jackson Heights was my first venture into another part of NYC the week I moved here. i think that there is something there to examine, but yes, these were taken over the psan of a couple of hours. I will be revisiting JH. Of course, Cuba I would kill to get back to! Last time I went, I went legally.

  8. Thanks for the responses. Truth be told, I simply dumped the pictures in. I have since editted out. The main point of this little photo adventure wass simply to demonstrate how the latin american community in JH has assimilated, and not assimilated into the culture here in NYC.

I was drawn to how much the neighborhood seemed like many of the places in latin America that I have traveled. I have edited out the "noise". Now I think the photos that are left have more purpose for what I was trying to demonstrate. The items might be subtle IMHO. Clearly I need to to more ruthless editting :)
