I have some old 2-1/4 square negs which apparently have some residue on them from the glassine carriers they were stored in. I don't thing it's fungus, but it leaves a yellow smear on the scanned prints. I would like to clean them but do not want to destroy them. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I thought about soaking them in distilled water, but I know once the emulsion gets wet it gets soft and they will probably need wiping.
Cheers,

I cannot get my Epson 2450 to scan a full 2-1/4 square negative even though I am using the 2-1/4 square film holder. It cuts off part of the right side making it rectangular not square. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased a lot of batteries for my Sony A700 and A77 cameras, the lot had both Sony brand and after market batteries. The after market batteries don't charge on my Sony charger. Any help here would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for all the responses. More details: I will be doing a shoot at an location other than my home or office (onsite). I want to display the images on my laptop (pc) at the site for the customer to view (preferably in a tiled format as opposed to one image at a time). Not on the internet, just on my laptop. Thanks

Like Matt said, get a sample pack of paper from Epson. You will be able to handle and print on each paper type and determine what is best for each specific type of print. Hot and cold press are fine art matte finishes, they both come in a bright or natural finish. Hot press is smooth where the cold press is more textured. It's like chocolate and vanilla or even pistachio, it's really just about choices and personal preferences. For all around general use I really like Epson's Ultra Premium Luster.

Looking for help here regarding the thickness of this paper. Do I need to make any adjustments or settings on the 2880 Printer with Hot Press Natural paper. Thanks in advance for your help here.

I purchased an Epson 2880 about 5 months ago and want to experiment with premium Epson papers. there is no information within the print menu or in the sample pack to suggest what would be the optimum settings for the various samples in the pack. Additionally I believe that these papers need to use the matte black ink cartridge: Hot Press Bright, Hot Press Natural, Exhibition Fiber Paper, Cold Press Bright, Cold Press Natural, Velvet Fine Art Paper and Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster. It would be nice if Epson provided more information or at least made it easier to find out the necessary information. If they want us to continue using their products, don't make it so hard to find what we need.

Has anyone used the Epson 2880 with Hahnemuhle canvas (400 gsm thickness) sucessfully? Epson states that the max thickness this printer can accomodate is (350 gsm) 1.3 mm. I would like to print on this canvas, but not sure if that's possible.

I currently have an 16-80 Sony/Zeiss, but need something wider. I am thinking about the Tokina 11 - 16. I welcome input about any of the others available. I would much rather have a prime, but all the ultra wides in this range seem to be fisheyes. any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I need an ultra wide zoom for my A700, but Sony doesn't have any primes in the 8-14mm range. This leaves me with a few zoom options i.e. Tokina 11-16 f2.8 or Sigma 8-16 fr4.5-5.6. I like the idea of the 8 - 16 however it will not accomodate a filter due to the curved shape of the front element. A polarizer is a must so that knocks out the Sigma. Does anyone here have any history with the Tokina? Any help here is appreciated.

Looking for an old style gas station with the old style pumps around the Jacksonville area.

This is really a great device, however it is not functioning as it should. When I attempt to load jpeg's either via a disc (cd or dvd) or flash drive they show up represented as a blank box yet all the photo meta info is present i.e. camera body, lens settings etc. If I load raw files directly from a compact flash card it works fine. just the jpegs most of which have been photo-shopped. I've never had this problem prior and I checked all the file sizes and dimensions to make sure they were within the stated limitations......no problem there. Has anyone experienced this problem with this unit and if so how did you rectify it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Truth be told I don't have a budget since this just happened suddenly. I just need something that will allow color adjustments for calibration purposes. I have a viewSonic at work and it was not very receptive to the calibration software.

I lost a close and dear friend last night, my trusty, dependable crt monitor. She was old but never failed me. I am loathing the task of searching for a new monitor that can be calibrated without costing me the farm. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks

Valley of Fire. Don't miss this spectacular place. I now go there every trip to Vegas.

When is Sony or Zeiss going to introduce an ultra wide prime that I can use with my A-700? My 20mm is not wide enough on the 700 and I don't have enough to pop for a 900 or 850. What are you waiting for Sony??

Yes, quite normal. Unfortunately the polycarbonate barrel vs the higher priced metal ones do not have the tight tolerances, thus the lower cost, however the glass gets it done!!

I thought it was interesting that Adobe decided (for whatever reason) to skip the PDN Photo Plus Expo in NYC this week.

Minolta 2X APO Tele Converer II Compatability
in Sony/Minolta
Posted

I am looking to sell my 2x converter (NIB), does anyone know of it's compatibility with a ca. 2004 series 80-200 APO Minolta Lens and what issues would it have interacting with the above referenced lens i.e. auto focus, metadata etc. Thanks for any help for advice here.
