Like I said, I can't find anything on their site, including that brochure. I did several searches there before posting this question. Can you scan that diagram and send it to me?

Well, unless you can tell me where one is online, that doesn't help me much.

Where are you seeing the h2? I can't find a drawing on the Schneider website other than of the XL f/5.6, which doesn't have that dimension.

-

I looked on the schneider website first. I looked at vintage lens data, literature, and even technical data sheets for current lenses. Even the drawings with “all” dimensions of the lenses do not include the dimension I'm looking for.

Just to be clear I'm looking for flange to the rear surface of the lens for f/8 90mm non-XL lens.

thanks.

Sorry. f/8.

Does anybody have experience with this film holder? I have a horseman that is limping along and I need to have a backup. Is the Widepan well built and reliable?

Thanks.

Does anybody know or can measure the flange to rear rim distance on this lens? I'm thinking about putting one on my custom-made camera. I need to know if I can slide out the lens panel with this lens on it to put in my other lens panel.

Thanks,
Thanks! That's what I'd hoped to hear. I only shoot b&w so the color aren't a big deal.

Joe,

Thanks! I'd heard that it was much less sharp than the 55mm, but maybe it's only slightly less so. I plan to shoot at f/11 or f/16.

I have a question about the 50mm. At what degree of enlargement would you begin to see its shortcomings, sharpness-wise? I am considering it and will be making 8.5x enlargements maximum.

This is a bit delayed, but I have a question about the 50mm shift lens. At what degree of enlargement would you begin to see its shortcomings, sharpness-wise? I am considering it and will be making 8.5x enlargements maximum.

Thanks for all your responses! Very helpful.

Are there any differences between it and the regular version? Or are you just getting a discount for the same thing? With some software, e.g. Autocad, the name of your school appears on every print.

Thanks.

Thanks! I'll keep that link...

I have a 105mm Fujinon W f/5.6, i.e. the little 105, not the big one for the 617. I have no way to accurately measure the filter size but it seems to be 46mm. Can anyone confirm or correct that?

Thanks!

Thanks for the response, but that wasn't what I was asking. I currently use the Ilford DD lab but would like to use the TMAX lab as they charge 2/3 as much and I can drop it off - IF TMax is at all comparable. The DD lab I have to ship to...

Andy

They are both extremely competent and consistent labs.

What makes you say T-Max is the best developer ever? Or was that a hypothetical?

I probably should have said this, but I thought it would be obvious from my over-exposure/under-development statement: I want less contrasty than normal negs with an expanded midrange...

-

I shoot primarily landscapes, use 120 400TriX at ~125 and under develop. There are two labs near me that do dip&dunk. One uses T-Max developer and the other Ilford DD, no -X. I cannot develop the film myself.

How would users (no speculation, please) compare these developers for my use? btw, one lab charges 2/3 what the other does and is close enough to drop the film off, i.e. no two-way shipping costs. Hence, my curiosity.

I can and may do tests, but I'm curious about what peoples' experience is.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention: I will be shooting 612, so the coverage needed - approx. 30 degrees - shouldn't be a problem.

-

I will be shooting at infinity. As the lens only cost $30 (from a lab going under, of course) I bought it. If it doesn't measure up, no great loss.

Thanks for the responses!

Do you think the Nikkor lens could approach, equal or surpass a symmar-s or apo symmar? I know I'd have a shutter issue to deal with. I make approx. 7-8x b&w enlargements from 612 negs.

Thanks.

I recently (March 2010) bought a focusing mount from Gaoersi. They were quick to send it and provide an accessory, but now that there's a problem they don't answer any emails.

The problem is that the focuser arrived working very stiffly and now won't turn at all. Does anybody have this kind of expeience with their focusing mounts and know how to fix it?

And, has anybody had this kind of problem with Gaoersi and know how to get an answer out of them?

Thanks!

Thanks, all. I got a copy of the Alsheimer book, for a start.

I'm switching to digital printing after 35+ years of silver printing. I am looking for a book about working in CS3. I cannot upgrade to CS4. I am not looking for flashy effects, just extremely fine prints, as I exhibit regularly. I shoot 120 film and scan it on drum scanners for large prints.

On Amazon, I see three books. Which of these, or what other, would people suggest?
Mastering B&W, Michael Freeman, published over 4 years ago
Advanced B&W, by John Beardsworth, pub. 10/07
The Complte Guide to Dig B&W, Michael Freeman, pub. 2 months ago

Thanks!

Yes. I was looking on schneideroptics.com, not schneiderkreuznach.com. Didn't know that still existed.

Thanks.
