I learnt the ins and outs of cycling in the classic European way, my grandfather told me all when I was just a little boy.
Now I can add lot's of personal experience to the handed-down knowledge.

Lot's of action in this one. First rider trying a breakaway, last one radioing to his directeur sportif what to do.
Is it taken from a motorbike, or from the side of the road?

Great shot, especially shooting from below gives the special touch.

It was indeed handheld. The only tripod I can carry while cycletouring is a small tabletripod. If I can park my bike to something solid, I can put the tabletripod on my bike. That was not possible on this spot.
It was scanned from the slide with a relatively cheap slidescanner.

A frozen lake I passed while cycling in Ukraine this spring. No
space to carry a tripod, hence the shallow DOF.

When a train stops at a Russian railwaystation, lot's of locals sell
home-made bakery to the travellers. Quite tasty.
BTW, this shot nearly cost me a camera, a policeman objected to me
taking pictures on the platform. Luckily he accosted me only when I
was allready in the train, and he didn't dare too much at that
moment.

The Southern-Russian city of Astrakhan is famous for it's fish and
fishmarket. The markethall is way too small to house all the
salespersons.

While cycling to Astrakhan, this local shepherd corssed our path.

The best impressions of Kamchatka I've seen.

Might it be that the terrain is level, and the 'chessboard' is a bit inclined? That could be the reason that it doesn't look completely right.
