Or shooting the same, and now tradditional PJ shots at F2.8 at ISO 3200.

Sorry Tom, but from my observations the Pentax Look has more of a 3D depth.

I sold my Nikon pro gear to buy into Pentax (got a couple of K10Ds)when I realized that in a while Pentax would release a camera similar to the D300 for much less. I could not be happier. I have shot weddings and portraits with no problems. Their selection of primes is great, the 16-50mm F2.8 is the perfect wedding lens. The 50-135mm F2.8 is next on my list. Having said that, if I did not have bills to pay and stomachs to fill, I would have a couple of Nikon D3s sitting around.

Just take fewer pictures.

I bet Mamiya is thrilled...

IMO two heads are just not enough, so as much as I like the Zeus concept, there is no way I would buy into them.

Everything I have bought from Amvona has been crap. It works fine for a while and then falls apart. I have and Amvona background system, it sucks, I also have a Bogen chain drive system, its ok, but you have to upgrade to the metal chains b/c the plastic ones break, the Rolleasy is as close to background perfection as you will find. I have learned my lesson the hard way. Buying Chinese stuff is like playing Russian roulette. Trust me just pony up and buy the Rolleasy.

Forget about a Hasselblad. Get a Mamiya 645AFD.

Optical slaves are the way to go. Tell the guests they can either turn off their flashes or their cameras, either way you dont have to worry about people shooting over your shoulder.
-
Jackie, do you have any hands on experience using professional studio strobes for portraiture?
-
-
I would have just shot with the Q-Flash and then explained and apologized later.

Looks like the pros who have stuck it out with Nikon for the last couple of
years have finely got what they have been waiting for! Check out the new Nikons:
The D3 looks like a wedding photographers dream camera! http://www.dpreview.com/

Dont waste your money on DX lenses.
-
Number One, do buy any more Nikon DX lenses. Number two, pick up a used Tokina 100mm or the 105 VR.
-
If you want to see this years cutting edge DSLR, all you do is wait a couple of days!

Spending $108 plus shipping seems kind of dumb when you can do it your self for $20.

It is super easy.

There is idea floating around that has really gotten me thinking about the
future. It revolves around recent advances in digital video. The idea is that
technology will evolve to the point that it will be possible to pull quality
printable stills from the video. At that point most wedding photographers and
photojournalists will transition to video as a primary medium for weddings and
pj assignments. The photographer who does not offer video plus still images
will be toast. I am not saying that this is good or bad, I guess it is product
and the bottom line that counts. Personally, I am not sure that I am really
interested in video, in fact I know nothing about it. Thats not true, I can
program my VCR to record a TV program, but that is not going to cut it. So if
the industry really starts heading that direction then I will have to make a
decision, jump in, jump out, or stick to still photography, and keep building my
portrait business. I guess that smart thing to do would be start learning now
and offer video as well as still photography so that when the time comes I am
not starting from scratch. What to you all think? If the industry transitions
to all video capture who will follow?

Modern professional RA4 papers are so good that they really do not need sprayed. Having said that, I always have the print linen textured and luster sprayed.

You will not have auto aperture. So as long as you dont mind having to manually stop down your lenses, go for it.
Ideas for outdoor winter shots!
