  1. I am looking for my second digital camera. I would like to purchase

either the minolta dimage z5 or the kodak z7590 (which is replacing

the dx7590). Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with

either of these two? Also, how about the editing software that comes

with it? I know kodak's easyshare software is great and 'easy' to

use, but I have no idea about minoltas?! Help! I would like to

    purchase one asap!

  2. HELP!!! I just purchased a Sony dsc-w7 digital camera. It has 7mp and

a 3x optical zoom. It seems hard to use and the editing software

doesn't seem that great to me. I have had a kodak easy share in the

past. I was wondering if the kodak easyshare z740 or the easyshare

z7590 would be a better choice? They both only have 5mp, but have 10x

optical zoom and I am sure the software is easier to use. So do I go

with the smaller sony 7mp camera with less zoom or go with a kodak

5mp camera with more zoom. Is there any advantage to a 7mp camera vs.

    5mp if I won't be enlarging more than a 20x30" picture. I need to

make this decision in the next 2 days or I can't return the sony

    camera. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Question, I am interested in buying a DVD camcorder to use for

personal use. I have never had a camcorder before, but have heard

that buying a DVD camcorder would be better than buying a Mini DV

camcorder,,.....is that correct? Which DVD camcorder would someone

recommend. I am looking for one that is 'reasonably' priced. Thanks!

  4. Question, I have a Minolta Maxxum 5 camera and a Minolta 28-80 macro

AF D 3.5-5.6 lens. Yesterday I noticed that when I rotate the zoom

dial from about 70 down to 50 I hear a light clicking sound. I don't

ever remember hearing this before and I did not drop the lens. Does

anyone have any ideas? My problem is that I leave 'tomorrow' for my

vacation out of town and was planning on taking MANY pictures with

this lens! Does anyone know if it will still work??? or will my

pictues be ruined? I don't have time to take it to be repaired

    before I leave. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Hi, I have heard a few people mention using a small chain attached to

the bottom of your camera 'as a tripod' by standing on it to keep the

camera from moving. How EXACTLY do I make one??? Like...what are

all the materials I would need,...what size chain? Also...is there

something that would take up less space in my bag that I could use

instead of a 'chain' ........would some kind of rope or something

work instead?? Thanks for any help.

  6. Question, I have usually been using 200 speed film for the finer

grain...but was considering trying 400 speed so I can do more hand

held shots. I have 3 questions... the first is 1)will I sacrifice

much picture quality if I go from 200 speed to 400 speed and my

second question is: 2)in anyone's opinion which film gives nicer

pictures: Fujifilm Superia or Kodak Royal Gold, and 3)does anyone

know if one 'lasts' longer than the other. I have heard that some of

the professional film you must get it develped right away. Does one

of these stay safe, undeveloped longer than the other. Thanks for

    all your help!!

  7. I prefer not to carry the tripod just because I think it would kind of be a hastle to carry more equipment than I already have. I guess I would prefer the higher film speed to the tripod. I currently carry a moderately sized camera bag and I feel that the tripod would just be too much to carry on a routine basis. (Maybe...occassionally I wouldn't mind). Possibly if I knew of a great ULTRA SMALL folding, light tripod I may consider getting one. Any ideas??
  8. Question, I am 'somewhat' a beginner. I have a Minolta Maxxum 5 and

    have 2 lenses: 1)28-80 (3.5-5.6) and 2)75-300 (4.5-5.6). My

question is that I am looking for a lense to use mainly for 2 things

and would like to take these pictures WITHOUT A TRIPOD,...if that is

possible. 1)Pictures of landscapes with EVERYTHING in the scene in

FOCUS and (not as important) 2)Pictures of someone playing sports

indoors. I really do not want to use a tripod. Is it possible to do

these shots without one? I was wondering if the Minolta brand

lens:50mm f/1.4 would work??? (Is that a D lense does anyone

know?). OR.....is there something different anyone recommends for

these situations? I prefer not to spend 'too' much $. Thanks for

your input!! Also....I do like the Minolta 85mm f/1.4 D lense, but

it is too expensive ...are there any less expensive alternatives?

    Thanks again!

  9. Does anyone know if the Minolta brand 55mm Circular Polarizer Filter-Thin is any good? I have 2 Minolta brand lenses and a Minolta camera and wondered if anyone had heard if their Polarizer was worth purchasing. (Also, can I use it with both of my zoom lenses....28-80 and 75-300 D).?
  10. Question, I am relatively a beginner and am looking for a filter that

in a color photo really "makes the blue sky and the white clouds

stand out". I think that I would have to use a Circular polarizer

for that?? .....am I correct or wrong? Also, is there a certain

type of polarizer I should buy? (circular or linear...thin...?) I

have a Minolta maxxum 5,...should I stick with a Minolta brand

polarizer or it doesn't matter. HELP!!

  11. Question, I just purchased a new Minolta Maxxum 5 camera and noticed

when I take pictures inside with Kodak Max 400 film and the flash

that is built into the camera that all of the pictures come out

Horribly grainy!!!!!! I think my point and shoot would take better

pictures indoors!! What am I doing wrong?? Help!! I spent a lot of

money on this camera and indoors it is taking BAD pictures! Any

    ideas? Thanks
