Super, par excellent Simon!  The lines, diagonals, and the rough cut.  Three major sections of this image. I like the hued color treatment a lot.

    Well done.

  1. Simply superb Dave.

I've been to Davenport a few times so thanks for the location "tip."  Just excellent -- all the color and long exposure and the care you took for this shot.

(also, I am gonna guess your camera's clock is an hour off)

I like this image a LOT! As someone who also takes a lot of ship photos this one is excellent.
A few minor gripes: the image as posted and in the portfolio is really small -- esp. considering the large subject matter and detail most likely present. It's all missed in these teeny tiny posted images. And yes, I too feel I have to lean as the "ship is listing" due to the dark shadow at the bow.
Fine composition, nice night light, and wonderful exposure and a deserved POW. Just... why so small?

  2. I too think this is an EXCELLENT photo rendered superbly in a square format (film used here is square?). The digital frame is bizarre indeed but the muted color and not-so-sharp image is appealing (don't know what Alex meant by "over sharpened..." what?).

Nice pose -- nice subject matter perfectly composed -- well done.

I love this photo with a couple minor reservations:

    * It's too small to be really appreciated online (only 600 px high); even Facebook allows for 720 px. I still fail to see the reason to post this tiny.
    * Too bad the EXIF is stripped (but it is a 10 sec. exposure)
    * it's borderless, so the impact is way too simple; it needs "setting off"

Regardless, being a dweeb I have to mention this. I cannot tell this is taken in a rain downpour. I love the greens and the composition and the perfect exposure. Printed large this would be a beautiful, tight landscape to hang on the wall.

    Bravo Marc!

Rather fantastic John, in both main senses of the word.

I like this a lot and you rendered it well. Certain types of overt manipulations lead to a better, final product.

  3. A very nicely composed photo Sunil. Good exposure, color, & contrast. You did your best to find a setting & composition that suit you and the oft-shot image of the GGB and SF in background.  Very cool.

Excellent B&W rendering/conversion Tim. Nice shadow angles and the steam coming from the chimney.  Minimal flare doesn't bother me either.

    Looks cold!  Looks old.

I love the texture you added to this boxed in view of the city. It works very well and makes for a stunning photo Pierre.  Nice!  Love the colors too, of course.
