How is its flare resitance? I like shooting with the sun in the frame. Any issues with flare, loss of contast and gosting. Any examples of this lens with these types of shots
thanks

excellent article. makes my decision on whether i get the 645 or 67 a little harder. Also with the chance that the 645 will be digitally compatble in a few years mmmmmmm
-
I hope they follow up on your design. this is the lens I want - my other option is to get a 38mm Zeiss and use a 15mm viewfinder from Voightlander and try to mount it with the mirror up.

The tokina is better built, higher resistance to flare and doestnt collect dust like the 24-85mm does. However the later is lighter, poorly built, more expensive and lower in optically quality.

fotritude a bit rich comming from someone who uses a false email. Its not about fortitude - If someone is gonna trash my pic tahts ok as longa they have the balls to write a comment

i was under the impression you could not post 1 1 witout making a comment

this guy/coward gave me a 1 1 rating - made no comment and has no
photos. By his stats it appears im not the first

I have just purchased the 24-85mm 2.8-4 D and have notice that it is
very soft wide open and sufferes from flare. Two questions is the 24-
85mm G sharper in the centre? and does it and handle flare better.
2. how to avoid flare when I shoot a lot of sunrises/sunsets?

nikon has a 12-24mm out now equivalent to 18-35mm and a 17-55mm f2.8 (25-83mm) in the pipleine
-
Hi the sigma was exposed better but lacks detail and resolution and is rather soft compared to the tamron.
Also tamron has some chromatic fringing but not as much as when used with a TC
-
There are now captions and labels as far as a zoom vs a prime. Its was just interesting to find it out. I was more concerned with the TCs vs the 50-500mm and the interpolater program. So keep your Duhs to yourself. What was intersting was that the tamron had far greater amount of Chromatic fringing than the sigma. This can be seen on the lettering on the first comparision (the bigger image) The sigma also appeared to be brigher even though the cameras exposure metering was the same - Multisegment metering

Just thought I would try this out

original picture (Tamron 400mm f4 LD SP @ f5.6 )
In conclusion the Tamron F4 LD SP is an awesome lens and coupled
with the 1.7x TC is as good or better than the Sigma 50-500mm in
terms of resolution. Probably should have tried them both at 400mm
but to late for that now. However the real star is the Fred Miranda
S1 v2 interpolater which increases the image size with only some
degradation of image resultion, it cant be the 400mm and 1.7x but
beats the Vivitar TC 2x. The Vivitar macro TC was very disapointing
image was soft even at 5x7.

hi
get the tokina 24-200mm instead - more useful and far far better. I think it has tested better than the sigma you intend to buy

Hi just a few quesions regarding the 6x9 cameras. I use 35mm but am
seking to go larger
My needs are as follows
need to get as wide as 15mm (on 35mm) to about 80mm (on 35mm)
sometimes around 180mm
i see that horseman have a number of wide angle lenses that suit my
needs but read some where about a sinar f or something with bellows
as an more econmical way of doing this. any suggestions?
also if a get a 6x12 horseman i will be able to shoot in both 6x9
and 6x12 format by changing the backs right?
thanks

i know pentax has a 45mm is anyone making a 40mm or 35mm? i use 35mm
bodies and love the 17-24mm range especially 20mm. i also like the
15mm length for uktra ultra wides

Try the following
Kiron 70-210 F4.5 Macro for k mount or Vivitar series 1 70-210mm 3.5 for k mount (the best lens in this range is the Tamron 80-200mm SP LD F2.8 adaptall which i just picked up another at $200US)
Wideangle Kiron or Vivitar 24mm F2
Tamron 90mm 2.5 macro adaptall macro and portraiture lens

I have only treid the tokina once and was impressed with its build quality. Image quality was a little less impressive. As I could get the sigma for $100 more and it had 100mm more range I chose it. I also feel its images have less distortion and are slightly sharper. Both are good and get the second version cos unless you want to bend you lens mount on the camera a tripod mount on the lens takes of this burden,.

picked up one of these with out a manula nad have no idea how to use
it. Any clues on calibration and read and how to set the thing up

Thanks, A film rep was at my local photography store today and I
snagged 2 rolls of Kodak Tmax 3200 and 2 rolls of Ilford FP4 plus
125 for nothing. Anyone used either. What type of photography are
they best for?
What is the widest angle of view possible on 67
in Medium Format
