  1. The tokina is better built, higher resistance to flare and doestnt collect dust like the 24-85mm does. However the later is lighter, poorly built, more expensive and lower in optically quality.
  2. There are now captions and labels as far as a zoom vs a prime. Its was just interesting to find it out. I was more concerned with the TCs vs the 50-500mm and the interpolater program. So keep your Duhs to yourself. What was intersting was that the tamron had far greater amount of Chromatic fringing than the sigma. This can be seen on the lettering on the first comparision (the bigger image) The sigma also appeared to be brigher even though the cameras exposure metering was the same - Multisegment metering
  3. Just thought I would try this out

In conclusion the Tamron F4 LD SP is an awesome lens and coupled

with the 1.7x TC is as good or better than the Sigma 50-500mm in

terms of resolution. Probably should have tried them both at 400mm

but to late for that now. However the real star is the Fred Miranda

S1 v2 interpolater which increases the image size with only some

degradation of image resultion, it cant be the 400mm and 1.7x but

beats the Vivitar TC 2x. The Vivitar macro TC was very disapointing

image was soft even at 5x7.

  5. Hi just a few quesions regarding the 6x9 cameras. I use 35mm but am

    seking to go larger

    My needs are as follows

need to get as wide as 15mm (on 35mm) to about 80mm (on 35mm)

    sometimes around 180mm

i see that horseman have a number of wide angle lenses that suit my

needs but read some where about a sinar f or something with bellows

as an more econmical way of doing this. any suggestions?

also if a get a 6x12 horseman i will be able to shoot in both 6x9

and 6x12 format by changing the backs right?

    thanks

  6. Try the following

Kiron 70-210 F4.5 Macro for k mount or Vivitar series 1 70-210mm 3.5 for k mount (the best lens in this range is the Tamron 80-200mm SP LD F2.8 adaptall which i just picked up another at $200US)

Wideangle Kiron or Vivitar 24mm F2

Tamron 90mm 2.5 macro adaptall macro and portraiture lens

  7. I have only treid the tokina once and was impressed with its build quality. Image quality was a little less impressive. As I could get the sigma for $100 more and it had 100mm more range I chose it. I also feel its images have less distortion and are slightly sharper. Both are good and get the second version cos unless you want to bend you lens mount on the camera a tripod mount on the lens takes of this burden,.
