As far as rubber eyecups go, old Exakta and Praktica eyecups (and right angle finders for that matter) fit D70, D100, F80... perfectly.

Can anybody recomend me a good print lab in Montreal?
I'd like to give a friend living there some pictures as a Christmas
present, but find it quite impractical sending large sheets of paper
over the Atlantic.
I'm considering sending him a disk with files and 10x15cm prints as an
information how the big ones should look like. As he isn't a
photographer, i doubt he knows for a decent place to have them
printed, also don't know what size he'd prefer (files will be good for
40X60cm). Reasonable pricing is welcome of course.
Thank you,
Miha

Go with Nikon Coolscan V ED, it almost fits to your prefered budget and it's image quality is extremly close to that of 5000 ED. The only drawback is its speed.

I'm planing to do a trial run of Vuescan after getting some experience with Coolscan and test it with both Epson and Nikon. So far, I'm quite satisfied with results from Epson with 120 slides and of course custom icm profiles.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I have an Epson 3200, used it both on Firewire and USB 1.1 and there's no difference whatsoever.

There's only USB 1.1 on my PC and with Coolscan V ED on order I wonder
whether i should get a USB 2.0 card.
I know, i could do the calculation myself, but find myself a bit lazy,
also an user opinion is worth more than pure theoretical data.
Thank you,

Pentacon Super uses modified M42 mount with mechanical aperture information transfer for open aperture metering which rules out standard M42 (or later electric) adapter if there is an adapter at all. There has namely be a mechanical linkage between aperture ring and lens mount, probably the second plunger.
IMHO there're equal chances for an adapterless unit and for a somehow modified P6 mount lens with Pentacon Super M42 adapter. The later could be used on other than M42 cameras, the former of course not. Unfortunately I can't find any reliable info on the matter.
Thank you,

Hi,
Does anybody know if Sonnar 2.8/180 for Pentacon Super is a standard
P6 lens with an adapter or is a dedicated unit?
Thank you!

I don't own a 300 mm one, there're 135 and 200 mm in my camera bag, also have had some experience with a 500 mm one.
Optical value of Orest*** lenses is certainly higher than the one in money. Meyer's long lenses are easily adaptable to fit almost all cameras (from 6x6 and downwards for 300 and 500 and 35 mm for 135 and 200).
There're some pics taken with 135 and 200 Meyer in my portfolio.

Luis, thank you!

Luis,
I've just uploaded some pictures. They are by no means a representative sample, but they may give you some idea what old iron (and glass) is capable of. Most of them are handheld shots.

I don't know anything about your Canon.
Battery requirements depends on what is it used for. CdS resistor based lightmeters can work very well with alkaline cells, some other pieces of electronics may require more exact voltage. If I were you, I'd try an alkaline cell first, it's inexpensive and you'll be able to see the results quickly.

Thank you very much gentlemen!
You've actually reminded me to update my portfolio, both equipment and pictures. I did the first one tonight and hope to be able to post new pictures in next few days.
If I can help you, just contact me here or by e-mail.

190? is a bit pricy for an Exakta with 3 very old lenses and some accessories. If you're heavily into collecting and you're looking for some of the lenses listed, it may be reasonable, but otherwise not.
Exaktas are very durable with an exception of shutter curtains. Most of the cameras on E-bay are in more or less urgent need of new ones unless stated otherwise. A Tessar (2.8 automatic one, not the old 3.5 manual) is no more than worth few ?, same with extension tubes, a short telephoto and a 35 mm lens are few 10? each, I'd say no more than 100 for a body and 3 lens set at E-bay and a CLA & new curtains at your camera repairman.

You're right. The flash unit itself is the same, the difference lies solely in SCA adapters supplied with it.

USB drivers were known to be troublesome few years ago, but they should be fixed by now. It'd be wise to download the latest drivers from your computer manufaturer website, the ones supplied with computers are usually quite dated.
If an image looks OK in Nikon scann and bad in Photoshop, there's something wrong with your colour spaces. Check your colour settings in Photoshop and your monitor calibration.
Digital ICE doesn't work with Kodachrome and B&W negatives. That's a well known fact.

Scans from Epson 3200 need considerable amount of sharpening. Even 500/1/1 setting (unsharp mask in Photoshop) is not unreasonable.
Colour fidelity of uncalibrated 3200 isn't something to be admired. You'd get way better results by using a colour profile for your scanner. Take a look at http://www.coloraid.de/

His Exakta gear is also outrageously priced, at least to E-Bay standards. Unfortunately his prices for not so rare stuff are quite in line with other German vintage camera retailers. More exotic pieces are really ridiculously priced, they may be aimed at buyers from far east.

To everybody:
Thank you for your kind answers. I probably won't be able to get Domke as there are no distributors in continental Europe. A good generic strap without any metal parts would have to do. I'm not afraid of F3 being stolen from my father, but still better safe than sorry...
To Lee Hamiel:
Thank you very much for your kind offer, unfortunately it seems we live an ocean apart, so it'd be quite impractical.

I know it's silly but anyway...
I've bought a mint F3 as a present for my father. Which Nikon's camera
strap would fit it best? The camera is going to do it's proper job of
taking pictures, not lying in a cabinet.

Flash with F3 and PC socket
in Nikon

Is it safe to connect a Metz 54 to a Nikon F3 PC socket? (I know, TTL
won't work) I really wouldn't like to fry a circuit or two inside the
camera.
Thank you very much!
