OK, I'll post: W. Eugene Smith, and Erich Salomon are the two photographers who most inspire me.

I am planning a shoot of downtown buildings. Something I have done before in a smaller city. But I will call it "Looking Up at Downtown" because it will skip the ground floor fronts. I h ave no idea if I will encounter police queries. But I will take along some prints from my prior efforts, just in case.

OK, I will add my two cents worth: NEVER ever destroy your originals. 'Nuf said!

The classic reply, attributed to J.P. Morgan while on his yacht: "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

-

Theresa, check out a nearby paper mill and ask if you can get a bit of their "broke" it is likely to be as wide as their paper making machine, and they will just recycle it anyway

I take lotsa pix but show only the good ones!

Be sure to visit Watkins Glen State Park, and get in some pix of Hector Falls too.

I can not say with any certainty, but my grandfather was a lithographic artist. He engraved letterheads which were as detailed as money. His dad was a Lithographer. My dad was a photographer. And on the other side, I had an uncle who managed to get 35 of his works on the cover of Saturday Evening Post.
I remain an amateur photographer. I don't do weddings and I don't do bar mitzvahs.

Just an addendum re tripods. I learned from a newspaper photographer in Rockford, IL that a tabletop tripod which you rest on your chest is not a tripod, it's a "light-stretcher." So shoot as you wish, just skip the flash in "sensitive" locales.

I have found a number of inexpensive frames, with hanger hardware at Dollar General. Have also used Michael's.

-

"fashion" as such is always annoying, and usually boring.

-

I have a couple of cartons of film. I hope very much to use it up soon.

OK, I have a number of camera bags, each of which has a different type of camera and accessories. My main problem with this situation is just remembering which system I want to use and grabbing the right bag. LOL

I collect old and even "antique" cameras. I love to use them. I wish I could find a convenient source for 5x7 glass plates, but donot expect do that soon. I have an acquaintance who shoots 5x7 Tri-X exclusively for landscapes and gets u[pwards of $1500 for his 30x40 prints which he prints himself. Nice lab!
So among our classic users, who among us is actually shooting LF or MF from earlier than, say, 1940 or so?

Just as a matter of curiosity, would it do any good at all to tell a police officer to "please get out of the picture?"

I often have to choose which cameras to haull along. I'm a collector, as well as an avid amateur. So
I usually have 2 or more film cams as well as a couple of digitals. My preferred digitals now include a Kodak V570, which has 5 Mpixel file size, and is very very compact. I just wish it had an optical viewfinder. But whaddaya want for the price? My next digicam is one I just got. it's almost as compact as the V570 but it is thicker and does change shape to zoom. It's also a Kodak, Z1485IS ands it does have a 14Mpixel file capacity.
I have not used it a lot yet, but I plan to reshoot a number of my printed pix at the higher resolution. Here's hoping.

How can anyone "run out" of film? If you are slow to reload, then just carry a 2nd camera, or if you have to, a digital.

-

Well I will sum it up with the cam I bought last week. I got a Kodak Z1485IS, chiefly for the 14Mpixel capacity. I can say that I havenot been disappointed with it.

Just a few I really want to get; the rest is serendipity!

Robot Royal
Hasselblad Xpan
Pentax 67

Depends on how you define "use." I bought 2 35mm cams last weekend and played with them all this past week. But I have not put any film thru them yet. Still cleaning them up.
For the record, I got a Zorkii 4, and a Yashica Electro 35. Both are functional. And I did find a battery sub for the Electro.

A 3/4 low-angle shot will be the primary one. Add to that shots from behind, above, and maybe, below, with or without a rider mounted.

It's just for the record, and I confess that I love Leicas, but themost I have paid for one so far, an M3 with an f2.8/90mm Elmarit, is $350. My i© got at a flea market for $35. And my iiif I got at Central Camera in Chicago for $250. I love them all.

I want a medium format digital TLR, kinda like a Yashicamat 124G with a 6x6 view screen, in addition to the finder screen. LOL

I recommend that you take a look at the web site: www.michaeljohnsonphotography.com for insipiration. Mike shoots landscapes in 5x7 Tri-X and has produced some remarkable work.
