I downloaded and installed RiseSet on my Palm last night. I checked it against a few online sources, and it seems accurate.
-
There's a freeware product called RiseSet available for the Palm OS as well:

I haven't tried it out yet.

You could purchase a short plastic level to take along, or at least use to check the camera body levels at home. A spirit level is a simple device, so I'd be surprised if yours aren't accurate.

I've seen this same argument crop up here a couple of times. Littman's bluffing about the lawsuits. He's just trying to bully people into submission. If he wasn't, there's a couple of guys who'd have been served with subpoenas by now. But since he doesn't have a legal leg to stand on, he just keeps on making threats. Men of action don't talk, they act. They certainly don't blather endlessly on public forums.
He's quit the forum before; he'll be back. Sorry 'bout that.
Personally, I'm not sold on the whole idea of handheld 4x5. Sure it's cool, but is there a tangible benefit? I figure that if you're not gonna use a tripod for large format, you might as well be using medium format. I'd bet dinner and drinks that my Koni-Omega in 6x7 would give better results handheld than a Ysaron on 4x5. Anybody wanna try it?

Durn, Lee, and I was just starting to like you... Next you'll threaten to sue anybody who's bought an old 110 just 'cause there's no other "use" for it besides your own creation.
Better run some ads in Vogue or Town & Country or wherever while you're at it. Gotta let the right people know which camera they're supposed to be using. Maybe bribe a few of 'em to talk nice about your creation, too.
But go ahead and try to sell some. Best of luck, etc. Hope you don't spend all the profit on lawyers...

You sure that was an accident? Sounds like she'd rather be at the pool...

There's nothing inherently wrong with a Second Chance offer. It's a legitimate seller's tool in case the high bidder backs out. Usually the seller is offering to sell the item at your highest bid, not at a large discount. It's faster and easier than the process for reporting a non-paying bidder, getting your listing fees refunded, etc.
Of course, you do still need to verify that the offer is from the actual seller, not a scammer. Even then, you should look for shill bidding, too.

I like the Upstrap - www.upstrap.com - better than the Domke. You can hang the camera from one shoulder securely.

I don't think this forum allows For Sale postings, but the Photo.net classifieds are a good bet. I've gotten lots (probably too much) cool stuff from there, and sold some things, too. Transactions have been smooth, once you sort out the usual bottom-feeders and scammers.
By the way, whatcha got to sell?

Looks like a few folks here have missed their meds. It's photography, remember? Your nurse will be along shortly.
Congrats on being employed, Larry!

I've got one of those. It'll be okay for landscapes, since you probably won't need a lot of movements. Also, you can use barrel lenses and save a few bucks. Lens boards are pretty easy to make for that one as well, unlike the later Graphics.

You should try to make it to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The South Rim is far more commercial and crowded.

Send it to Sherry. She's a peach, and will get your lens back to you shortly.

The medium format equal to a Leica is the Koni-Omega. Greg Weber can fix it if you get a dud. As a bonus, they're available for cheap.
Definitely worth a look - they've got great lenses and bulletproof build quality.
-
Frank - Buy'em both, and let us know which is better.

Tom,
I visited quite a few National Parks on a roadtrip last year. I'd never visited most of them before, so I can't comment on whether they're better or worse now. If you want to avoid crowds, I suggest going later in the summer. Most folks with kids are back home by then, so campgrounds, motels and parks are less crowded. You really should go if you can. They're definitely worth the trip.
Regards, David

REI has an adjustable hiking staff that works well for both.

I've got a boonie hat that works well. And they're cheap enough that you can afford to have a spare. REI, EMS or any other hiking supply store will have something that works.

Film flatness comes from the film holders, not the camera body.
Grafmatics hvea spring in the back, so they hold film flatter than standard film holders.

If you're only going to be doing contact prints, it might be hard to justify the expense of a newer lens.
Lots of cool shots have been taken with old lenses. Give yours a try.

Cool stuff!
I'm gettin' out my Fisher-Price cameras next.

Stephen - thanks for remembering me.
What's the deal with the Agfa Clack?
in Classic Manual Film Cameras

There's plenty of reasonable alternatives to a Clack. Try looking for a Pho-Tak Traveller 120 or LifeTime 120 (they're practically the same camera). They're both 6x9, with a metal case, glass meniscus lens and a bulb shutter setting. They're plenty cheap the last time I looked. I got both of mine for $10 or $15 shipped.
There's even a Santa version, but it's gonna cost you. Anything related to Christmas goes high.
