Should I use Tungsten film to shoot indoor ?? (I get kind of an orange cast in all the picture ...) ... Which one ??
Thanks !

Hi there,
I've just saw my first pictures taken with my brand new Elan 7e. I'm
disapointed with the result and there is huge room for improvement. I
shot all my pictures indoor, with a Canon 85mm f/1.8. Light was kind
of low so I had my 420EX attached and I bounced it off the ceilling
for all the shot. I get GREAT result from my Canon G2 with this
technique. With the Elan 7e, I get flat/blend color not vibrant at
all ... I shot everything at f/1.8 with Fuji Superia 400.
What do I do wrong ?? Should I point the flash at people (all my
pictures were portrait) ... Should I use my omnibounce ??
Any tips ??
Thanks !

I really like the Domke bag (F-3x, F-4AF, F-6) but I can't find any good picture of the inside of the bag in the web !! And my store close to my house doesn't carry those ...

Hi there !
I'm looking for a bag for my gear and it's pretty tough :-) I don't
have much time to go to the camera store with all my gear and try
every single bag ... I'd like to narrow them down to a few ... This
is my list of gear:
- Elan 7e
- BP-300
- 85 1.8
- 20-35 4.5/5.6
- 50 1.8
- 420EX
And I plan to buy a 100-300 4.5/5.6 ...
I don't want to carry everything all the time but I'd like a bag
which could carry the elan 7 + BP-300 + 1-2 more lenses ...
Any recommandation ??
Thanks !

Hi there !
I just noticed something on my new Elan 7e and I don't know if I
should worry or not :-) ... Whenever I'm on AI Servo, the AF assist
light doesn't trigger (with either the build in flash or my
420EX) ... It does work fine on other mode.
Is this a normal behavior ... ? Can't find anything on the
documentation regarding it ...
Thanks !

Of course your 14mm become a 22mm on the D60. This is true with the nikon D100 and any pro DSLR ... The CMOS sensor is not a real 24X36 and any lens will get a x 1.6 factor (difficut to get get wide angle but you get nice zoom instead ...)

Hi there,
I'm searching for some B&W mailer (no C-41, true B&W) ... Does kodak
or Fuji do it ?? I've found A&I but they are very expensive ... Any
tips ?? (I also found www.bestlab.com but I'd like to compare with
other ...)
Thanks !

Hi there,
I'm still investigating way to process and get prints from my B&W
roll ... I've found A&I (http://www.aandi.com/index.html) lab with
ways of sending my roll through mail and receive them back ... Is it
a reliable lab ?? How do they perform compare to a 1 hour photo
lab ? Any experience to share ?? Are there any other labs doing this
kind of 'stuff' ?
So many questions ... :-)

Hi there !
I'm considering buying a wide angle lens and I was looking at this
Sigma 24mm f/1.8 ... I didn't read any bad things about this lens
and it makes me think that it really compete well against the Canon
24mm EF ....
What do you think ?
Thanks !

Hi there !
I'm having difficulty decide which lens to buy ... I like the
convenience of a zoom but like the quality of a prime, like a lot of
people ... :-) Does anybody has example of the 100-300 in portrait
situation ?? I'd like to see if the background blur is acceptable for
me ...
Thanks !

What kind of mushrooms ??? :-)

thanks again !

Hi there,
I'd like to know what would be a fair budget to start processing my
own roll ... I just want to be able to scan my negatives. What do I
need as far as equipment and room in my house ??
I know, it's a newbie question and if someone has a link which could
tell me the basics, I would appreciate ... :-)
Thanks for your help !

If you want technical comparison of these lenses, you can go to http://www.photozone.de ... Very nice website ...

Ok guys ... Great advises, but you're blowing my budget away with the Canon 70-200 f/4 !!! :-) That's why I wanted to go with the 100-300 ... I'd like to keep my lens budget < $700 ... :-)

Correy, I know that I'm gonna need speed for my portrait but how am I going to handle street portrait from 10 to 20 meters without a 100-300 ?
Fred

I know that the 100-300 is pretty slow but I want to be able to wander in SFO streets and be able to take portrait from far away ... I don't really know if this is possible with a 85 mm ....

Ok,
I've read tons of magazines, website and of course this forum ! These
are my 2 choices for my new Elan 7e (I will take mostly portrait
(close portrait and street portrait) and landscapes ... I already
have a 420EX)
Choice 1: (Estimated price: $600)
Canon 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 USM
Canon 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 USM
Canon 50 f/1.8 USM
Choice 2: (Estimated price: $780)
Canon 28 f/2.8
Canon 50 f/1.8 USM
Canon 85 f/1.8 USM
Canon 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 USM
What do you think ?? any better option ??
Thanks for your help !

Thanks all for your advices ... I'm going to look at the Elan II/IIe ... As for lenses this is going to be a tough one ... I was reading about the new Tamron 28-300 lenses and it has good review ... Does anybody use this new lens ??

Hi there !
Ok, I'm at a decision point. I've been using a digital camera for 4
years now but really like the flexibility of an SLR (and don't have
the money for a DSLR yet), so I'm looking to buy an SLR. Since I
already have a 420EX, I'm gonna go with Canon. I'll shoot mostly
portrait of my upcoming baby and landscapes ...
I really like the Elan 7 or 7e but I'm wondering if the Rebel 7i
might not be sufficient enough for what I want and spend the
difference with better lens (my next decision point ... I'm heading
for a Canon 28-105 USM, 100-300 USM and really would like a 50mm
prime 1.4 ....) ... ??
What do you think, you expert ?? :-)
If you want to see some of my pictures (give you an idea of what I
like, what I do ...): http://www3.photosig.com/userphotos.php?id=6047
Thanks for your help !

First roll with my Elan7e ... Disapointed.

Thanks for the tip steven. I'll try that. When you use the ominbounce of a white card, do you still bounce off the ceiling or do you point the flash at your subject ... I think you're right, I don't get much light from my flash (With my G2 I get full power when I bounce it, with the elan 7, I've noticed that I get little light from it ...)
