I just retracted my comments expressed elsewhere in 2007, but cannot help being critical again. /Why do I waste my time here — I do not know/

I have the following problems with the above picture: though I like the expression on the face of the lady on the right side /more poetic/, the one on the left appears to a certain degree incompatible. Would prefer both models to express a similar, or "matching" attitude... or whatether you call it.

The shadow of the right elbow of the girl on the left blends too much with the background behind her. The background is BEHIND the models. If you blend the subjects like above, you do away with the 3—dimensionality of your picture. Then there are two distracting spots which I did not recognize at all, but a commentator above did — the unneccesary NAILS. It is easy to retouch them.

The worst however is the left hand placed around the waist of the girl on the right. It is an artificial, made of plastic and glued?, palm. It belongs to no one. Moreover it is too large to be real – compare the size with the left hand of the girl on right.

    Cheers!

  1. If anything should be changed in the photo above, than the hat in the foreground and the spike in the corner should be made more visible NOT less, because they offer the 3-dimensional reference and add depth to the photograph, especially since it provides a diagonal line to lead the eye (the hat, foot and box). You probably have a little more of these at the very edge of your negative. The shadow on the left balances the composition and the slight tilt of verticals adds to the overal tension.

Don't listen to what the others want you to do.

    Was it at La Boca?

  2. I have visited this valley perhaps a hundred times since my childhood, but always at its bottom. This is the first time I climbed Organy, a rocky ridge forming eastern slopes, to have overall view of the valley. If you look at the previous picture in the portfolio, which was taken across the valley, you will see my present position.
  3. I took 3 shots of this area, in either vertical or horizontal orientation and in various distances from the trees. In this picture the Nature has actively participated in the extraordinary arrangement of clouds in the sky and in the valleys bottom, something I noticed postfactum in the darkroom. Needles to say this is the best shot.

Off the trail in the backcountry. At 6 oclock this morning the temperature was 11 deg. C, hence the delicate silver paint everywhere. I waited here for about half an hour for the sun to come up again, as this photo was taken literally in the last second before sunshine disappeared. When I was getting really cold the illumination improved. Nevertheless, this is the better shot of the two.
  4. I spent an unforgettable night here, my feet supported by the large stone in the foreground, while my head was under the bush. The panorama was splendid. The height between the Duck Lake level and the peak behind (called Snow Pile) is 700m, while the crown of mountains on the left and right was even higher. There was no wind, the air was motionless. Perfect silence under sky full of stars. I slept vigilantly though, not knowing whats the deuce, but instead of a bear approaching I could only hear my heartbeat. Around 4 o'clock in the morning I was awaken by moonlight. What I saw is rendered with much likeness in picture 1007.
  5. Wonder how close can you focus 90mm lens and have everything in focus. Does the camera allows tilting the lens? Then you should be able to work nearly in a macro - infinity mode. Blend of colors, probably due to the filter used, are not in my taste.
