Superbly composed with great use of lines guiding me into the scene and up the mountain. A tad more saturation and this would really pop, but then again the subtle colors have their own mood.
-
Great composition and excellent exposure, though the water reflection should be a bit darker, but it's not obvious for non photographers. Wonderful scenic of a wonderful place!
-
My only nit would be the look on her face... Looks a little unconfortable IMHO, but the composition and color is SUPERB!
-
Love the "film noir" mood of this image. The car in realtion to the bridge is a great composition. Don't know about includeing all that foreground though.
-
Outstanding composition and great BW tones. My only nit would be the position of the person in the frame, but unless this was staged there was probably little you could do about it!
-
Wonderful mood! The composition is maby a little static, but the interesting clouds make up for it. Love the various tints of color throughout the picture. Love the hint of beach at the bottom.
-
Wonderful mood in this picture. The composition is simple, but maby you should have included more of the rocks in the foreground. The clouds in the background are outstanding and really gives the impression of an incoming storm. The overall image is a little too cyan, and the horizon is tilting to the left.

After viewing your images for some time I must say that I admire your vision and style. Your love for the sea and sky is obvious. You have an eye for composition, and your love for square should earn you a Hasselblad to play with, because your images belong in a fancy gallery!
This image has great light, and the person to add scale to the poles was clever.

The only way to measure the success of an image is to measure to what degree the photograph communicates the original idea of the photographer.
It's a simple composition with very few elements and two prime colors. Interest lies in the horizontal lines of the landscape and sky, and the vertical ripples in the sand. The composition emphasizes this very well. The lines create life in an otherwise dead landscape and environment. It's about contrasts, and seeing what others might miss. This image shows how an image and concept can be made out of 'nothing', and that's what photography is all about. The vignetting may taste sour on some peoples tastebuds, but in the end it doesn't make or brake this image. This image has great potential in print, and the texture of the dunes would look very impressive in a larger format print. When are we going to get good 30" screens so images can be properly exhibited electronically...?

Very nice portrait and wonderful framing. I would have left the whites in the eyes white and kept the toning to the 'pupil' only.

Cool and refreshing wide angle landscape! Good to see something else than the repetitive wildflowers and rocks in the foreground!
I wonder how you managed to make the reflection in the water lighter than the sky? That is impossible by the laws of physics... just thought I should let you know that when using NGDs you need to be careful.

Stunning!

A little burning of the sky and this would be perfect technically (for me). I agree with those who said the brightness of the sky takes focus away from the subject to some extent. On the other hand, the image is able to communicate such a wonderful concept: The sheperd and his sheep and the environment in which they live. A perfect photograph combining the best in a landscape with a street shooting feel.

Great capture! The composition and background is superb, and the raised feathers really looks like a royal crown! Not much else you could have done to get this better, except for some catchlight in the eyes.
-
Greatr action shot. The composition is superb and the look on his face is killer (pun intended). My only nit would be to brighten up his face a little bit. After all, people are faces...
-
Great action and impact in this one. The tilted "seat" and the flying crackers work well to create the mood of the scene as you've described it.

Very nice Lucas,
The composition works very well and the pose is great. My only nit are her feet which I think should have been arranged differently.

QUOTE: "Point being - Photo.net is about photos. And it does matter how and to what level of expertise they were retouched/edited."
Dear Lucas,
There is not ONE way of looking at photos, and there is not ONE way of enjoying photography. Nitpicking has its place and can be valuable feedback for any photographer. On the other hand many of us that sell photographs for a living have audiences to please - they rarely know anything about the technical side of photography. As long as an image works and communicates its a winner in my book. Weather this would be printed in 'Photoshop Professional' or 'Lenswork' doesn't bother me at all - I just know that this image has great commercial potential. In the end, if an image is badly crafted it will be hard to sell, and the photographer will learn a lesson. Happy shooting to ya'!

Hi Richard!
I rarely see images that couldn't be improved... but this is certainly one of those rare images. Everything is fantastic - the composition, the mood, the action, the light - I could never ask for more in a photograph. Thanks for sharing this fantastic image, may you take many more like it!
As for digital editing - I couldn't care less - I'm not interested in 'photography', just great images, no matter how they were created and edited!
-
Cold and mysterious. Making the composition a little more off center could improve this.
-
Lovely composition and good use of the man to show the scale of the construction.
-
Very nice composition and use of backround. The color on the foliage looks way off and the image is a little soft. Try to add a little more sharpness in Photoshop (Try: USM 180% / 0,3 / 4)

You've been on my list of favourites for some time. Your landscape portfolio is strong and this image fits in nicely. The shutterspeed adds tension and interrest in an otherwise tranquil scene. The people don't bother me at all, though they change the meaning and possible use of the photo drastically.

Another superb action photo!
