Hey boys, come up and see me some time....hey, where's the action around here.....

-

OK, there is a narrative with these 3 pics and I guess that the naturalists out there will correct me if I'm wrong<G> Took these 4 days ago with Sony a900 and minolta 100-300. Not bad, hey, for a 80% crop?

this is a female fairy wren trying to attract thhe boys by puffing out her chest and putting out a lovesong or two.....

I've got a sigma 12-24mmD1:4.5-5.6 DG EX. Very sharp, good colour. I'd be happy to recommend it. The Dyxum website will give you a comparison 0f all the extreme w/a lenses available in A-mount

The Tokina is 5 ounces heavier than the Tamron if that's an issue with you.

Extra diaphragm blades should give a smoother bokeh

You've got a costant 2.8 vs f3.5-4.5 so if you think the extra 1/2 to 1 stop of speed is worth $100 go with the Tokina. Depends, as always, on what you're gonna use it for I suppose

Thanks Paul,it's taken me years to get a decent pic of a male wren. Then I got 2 in 2 days<G>. I'd love to see that chili moth in the wild, must be spectacular.

They've certainly got their noses in the air The trouble with birds is that you can't yell at them when they stuff up your composition.

Thanks, I also found the Dyxum reviews after i made this post. They certainly like the lens there as well

I didn't know that there was a 'G' version of this lens. Can anyone give me an opinion on it? it would be a juicy bird lens if it's any good<G>

Paul, I'm really happy with the a55, no 'bronzing',lovely rich saturated colours and for me, excellent colour rendition, the only problems i'm having is getting used to electronic viewfinder and the amount of lagtime in getting the camera to fireup. and the big, big asset is with the 10fps bursts i can get 2 and sometimes 3 chances to get an ideal 'pose' out of the horses, whatever gait. just imagine how good a camera an a55/a900 hybrid would be....grin. my only real criticism is that the a55 is a real battery eater. it's a great little camera

Mr Clive, that is very funny....vbg

that's ok....despite his mysogyny and terrible cruelty towards his models, bourdin still remains one of my personal favourites....french vogue must of been absolutely rocking with him and helmut newton around at the same time....grin

lots of phone cams, tweets and other social broadcasting. photojournalists shot themselves in the foot when they allowed themselves to be embedded....who'd believe anything published by murdoch anyway? (crosspost, Brad beat me to it....grin)
