You want both SD and CF. This gives you the capability to mirror writes and switch from one card to the other quickly without opening the camera (like when it is raining).
You *may* find Extreme IV CF is faster in the camera.

For the low light situation,
5D works EV -0.5 - 18 (on page 171 of manual)
1Ds2 works EV 0 - 18 (on page 174 of manual)
In my experience, the 1Ds2 AF is not the best in low light situations.

?With advanced features like this on all our cameras, it will be diffi cult to take a bad photo,?
Really? I'd love to be unable to take a bad photo.

Those CF cards are type 1.
-
Keep the flash *above* the camera.
-
Try the chips.

The photo was taken at 17mm f2.8. It isn't going to be perfect. I'd second the suggestion to investigate what the AF and the AF assist light is up to.

I'm thinking you mean a 360 degree horizontal panorama. I don't think you can do that with any lens and two shots (unless you have a 6mm nikon fisheye.) Probably you can do what you want with something in the 28mm - 100mm range, taking a series of shots which you can then stitch together. I like hugin for this sort of thing.

Stephen, I need better than 800x600 resized image with no detail at the edges to judge anything. Your lens may be amazing or it may be rubbish, but there is no way you can tell from the image you've posted. Really, you need 100% crops, preferably with a FF camera of something with some detail and flat.

In the short time I was there in 2005, 75% of the tangier taxi drivers tried to overcharge me. One guy was asserting that I had to pay a +50% night rate (and then some more just for good measure) when it was the middle of the day. Everywhere else in Morocco, the taxi drivers were great.
I'd say it was fine to carry a camera around, but the place is not as photogenic as some other Moroccan places. Wandering around by yourself late at night, I'd be a little more wary.
If you get bored, take a boat to Gibraltar, climb the hill and visit the monkeys.

I also vote for panasonic image stabilisation.

I had one briefly. I sent it back because it produced worse images than the 50 f1.4 I was testing it against.
I was getting similar results to those on this page... (with the same camera but entirely more casual methodology)

Compare the 1.4 crops in the Corner Sharpness and Chromatic Aberration section.
I felt it was not worth the extra money, and weight.

If you are in the UK, do try Jessops, but go armed with some internet printouts and try for a Jessops internet Price Match promise. You will either come away with a cheapish camera or memories of a fun experience and cruel rejection at the hands of the UK's prime high street photographic retailer.
If you are very lucky and the Jessops personnel want to do you a favour, they might even offer an extended warranty for extra piece of their mind. You *may* be offered memory cards as well, but really you might want to get them at picstop.co.uk or 7dayshop.com
Sometimes Jessops uses its retail muscle and actually sells bodies quite cheaply, so they are definitely worth a try.
If anything happens to your camera, you might be better sending it to nikon directly. Or you end up just getting information second hand though a retailer.

In a similar position, I wanted a cheap ETTL(2) flash for occasional use and went for the Sigma DG ST. It is more powerful and cheaper than the 430ex and has worked just fine for me. Of course I don't get that warm feeling of OEM goodness when I use it. Also...
ETTL2 is afunction of the body, not the flash, but that doesn't stop sigma from saying they support it.

How can I keep my shutter open for 35 minutes? I will be doing this less than 41 times a day, for sure.

The link doesn't say that Sony will actually *make* CF cards. They may just be putting labels on someone else's stuff.

The obvious question is "how do you know your charger is charging your batteries?" You seem to have swapped everything else out. I'd check the terminal voltage of the freshly "charged" batteries to check it is correct.

I had the opposite experience. With the same camera (1ds2) and 28-75 and the 24-70, the canon had marginally, (but noticeably) better IQ.
Anyway, the answer to your question is No.
Good reasons for getting the 24-70 include, better AF, more respect from camera cognoscenti, increased self esteem, and cool reverse zoom design.

The face detection, does it work with monkeys?

When I read "cheap body", I was thinking 400D...
On hegre-art.com, what camera do they use for 4300x6000 pixel images?
