Bogen? You've lost me there Jay. Is he some kind of American tripod God?
THE MIGHTY BOGEN IS UPON US AND HE SHALL SMITE THEE DOWN!!!!!!!
:0)

What light meter are you using? I have been using a Sekonic L358 for
the last few weeks and am very pleased with it.
-
I buying a new tripod tommorrow, I have a Manfrotto 144 at the
moment, however I need something bigger. How big is the 058? You can
never tell just by looking at the pictures. I will be using it for
35mm, medium and large format (5X4 and 10X8).

Yes, kindergarten Doogie, if that's the class from which you wish to be taught, then so be it. Where shall we start?
-
And as for you Preston, I spent a lot of time in that town and the beer there is shit, the women are ugly and the weather is grim.
-
Douglas, I don't care if you care. Tell you what though 'Douglas'(capital of this fine Island) is derived from the two rivers which meet within the town - the river Dhoo and the river Glas -Dhoo-Glas -Douglas. Bet you didn't know that hey Doogie?
Every day is a day at school with me you know.

Dan Fromm? Where? Where are you fromm Dan?
Don't keep us guessing.

Set the video for 2.30am and get the program about Andreas Gursky too.(unlike Nachtwey, Gursky is as straight as they come, he is however German. Can't have it both ways you know.......unlike Mr Nachtwey)

Thanks guys. I bought the GWIII about 6 months ago, but when I started having the film troubles I stopped using it. Last week I thought "hold on, I have a fantastic camera here and I'm not using it because I don't know how to load the film!"
I actually bought it 'ex-demo', the counter only has 005 on it (due to the fact you can't cock the shutter without a film in I think?).
Anyway, thanks again.

When I finish a roll of film (always 120) sometimes the film isn't
tight on the spool. What am I doing wrong?

Reto, I have a Toyo 45A 'clam-shell' large format camera in an old Billingham bag at home. It's a pain in the arse to use - loading the double dark slides, focusing on a dull, upside-down, back-to-front screen under a black cloth, carrying a HUGE tripod and then there is the developing........anyway, I use it about 3 or 4 times a year, but when I see those contact sheets, 4 big, lush black and white prints on one sheet I swear I will use it more, but then the novelty wears off and the old Billingham bag goes back under the bed.
Having said that, I will never sell the Toyo because it matters not that I use it once in a blue moon, I love using when I do. (and it's not true that men with big cameras have small dicks, mine's big enough to fill 3 prams.....)

Oh dear, you boys can't take a joke can you? Are you all related to Mr Nachtway? Anyway, shirt-lifting has been legal on the Island for a few years now and we have less sheep per head of population than England.
So get your wellies and belt out Steve. BBBAAARRHHHHHHH!!!!!
-
I strongly suspect that Mr Nachtway 'bats for the other team'......as it were. Just look at the mans (?) hair.
-
He uses 2 Canon EOS1's, one with a booster and one without. He also ALWAYS has his hair neatly styled with hair-spray no matter what situation he is in.
I think he might be gay.

Channel 4 showed it as part of their weekend art thing, last night(friday) was an exellent program about the German 'art' photographer Andreas Gursky.(I could start a whole thread on about 'photography'is it art?'.....I know it is, but some don't seem to think war photography can be art, etc,etc,etc....).
-
Did anyone see the program tonight on James Nachtway?
The only way to decribe it was f**king unbelievable! What an amazing
guy, they mounted a video camera on top of his Canon and showed him
actually taking the photos of war situations, you see his finger
twitching as he thinks about the shot he is about to take.
And the photographs!
-
I sometimes have a "6x6 only" day.
That sums it up! I wake up in the morning and think "fuji" or "SLR" or "I don't like big Billingham today, get the Domke out"
Frank, I send all my work to a pro lab in London who do a fine job of printing the 6x9 neg. I just love to see those 8 negs side by side on a contact sheet though!
I think we all need to see a shrink......
-
......mmmmm, some people don't seem to have read my original question.
-
I have an R8 and 21-35mm, I hope to add a 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.4 and another body to this over the next few months. I actually phoned Classic camera in London to order a 6.2 last week, they have been advertising the 'last few in stock, order soon', but I put it off and put it off.....guess what? They had none left and said that nowhere else has new ones! So it looks like I'll be searching for a second hand 6.2.
Anyway, I like the R slr because it's individual, NOBODY has ever heard of Leica. Some people like the attention they get when have a F5 or an EOS1 hung around their neck. I don't. But of course the biggest reason is the glass. Nuff said.
-
I am mad aren't I?......OH GOD WHY MEEEEEE!!!!!!!
-
Does anyone else use another format alongside their Leica systems? I
have just 'rediscovered' my Fuji GW690III medium format and Haven't
used my R8 for nearly 2 weeks! I have always had this either/or
attitude and can never use 2 formats at the same time, I even have 2
portfolios of work, 1 with 35mm and the other medium format. I have
never owned a lens longer than 50mm because I don't like to see a mix
of wide and telephoto shots in the same body of work, so I stick with
wide because thats what I prefer. I also only have one type of film
in my bag at any one time, either Neopan400 or Fuji sensia
100......and so it goes on!
Is it just me? Am I odd? Do I need to go and see a shrink?
-
I got so high on acid a few weeks ago that I thought I was flying and sometimes I smoke too much bush and try to jump out of high speed cars........how about that, does that count as well?
YEAH BABY YEAH!!!!!! Do I make you horny?
