  1. It was me, I stole it....all of it. It so shiny and new, I had to had it, I just want to have more gear than ANYONE!!!!!

Forgive me. That's where I've been you see, the bit about going to France was true, but I never saw any snow, no, all I saw was a fuc*ing big warehouse full of Leica's. I've been trying to sell them around the pubs here on the Isle of Man, but it's the same everytime - " 500 quid for that? It's a bit old-fashioned looking isn't it? "

I'm spraying the whole lot gold and selling them as novelty paper-weights if anyone wants one. Make very nice christmas presents you know.

Again I ask you all to forgive me.

    All my love, Phill Kneen

  2. I'm off to the Swiss Alps this evening for a bit of skiing for a

week, so I would just like to wish you all a very happy Christmas.

Don't drink too much and don't do anything that I wouldn't

do...........so that leaves you open to quite a bit!

    Anyway, have a good one.

    Phill.

  3. Take a look in some of the filmmaking forums. The Film V video/film V digital debate has been raging for years, the film V video argument started in the early 70's!

Now then, look at what we have now - a huge amount of filmmakers are still using film, Guy Richie shot 'lock, stock and 2 smoking barrels' on 16mm film, the big Hollywood films are still shot on 35mm or 70mm. I myself shoot raw stock of snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, etc for the extreme sports TV market. The producers now prefer the footage to be shot on film, not digital.

This debate will still be here 20 years from now.

  4. I sent an F5 to Nikon for a service and got it back 4 months later. I asked for a spare to use and they said they didn't offer this service.

I sent an M6 to Leica for a service and got it back 8 days later. Leica offered me the use of a spare M6 AND a lens of my choice to try if the service was going to take more than 10 working days.

Writing to Leica is a waste of time, you have to phone them and explain your situation and be nice. (yes, even I can be nice!)

  5. Well Bob, I'm just shooting the raw footage, my friend Ned is doing the technical bits. I think we will just do a basic edit on film and then transfer to video to do the full edit........what the hell am I talking about?

As I said, I'm just shooting what the director tells me too!

  6. It's funny actually, I've been to a couple of filmmaking forums and the questions are-

    ' which lens is best, 10-100 or 16-100mm ? '

    ' should I buy the sony PD150 or the Canon XL1s ? '

    ' which magazine size is best, 100 or 400 feet ? '.........

Mmmmmm, heard those questions somewhere else ?! ;0)

  7. Goy, the ' Life swap ' project as it was called went ahead as planned during the summer. A young photographer ( is 25 young ? ) called Sam Dillon came to the Island and I went to live with his partner Cathy in Boston for 3 weeks. During my stay I shot 234 rolls of film so we are still editing them down for the exhibition. We all met up after the project for a little holiday in France, we wanted to record the meeting of our partners, however, some twat stole all of our camera gear.

I will be posting the exhibition on the web and will let you know when the site is up.

  8. I know this has nothing to do with Leica ( or even stills photography

come to think of it ).

I have recently started doing a bit of filmmaking and bought a couple

    of Bolex 16mm cameras ( a 1955 H16 and a late H16 EBM ). I am having

trouble finding tips and advise on using 16mm film. Is there anyone

who has used Bolex cameras or knows of any good sites ? ( a search

only seems to turn up places that sell them ).

I'm sorry for such a way-off topic question. ( they do say that Bolex

are the Leica of the cine world though ! )

Maybe you could contact me direct. pyranha69@manx.net

  9. Now then. I have only ever, and I hope Tony can confirm this, posted under the name of Andy kay. There was a problem a few months ago when at least 5 people decided they wanted to be me. Odd, to say the very least. So, I lay low for a few weeks, had my IP address changed and Bobs-your-uncle ( Funny that because I do actually have an uncle Bob ).

I may get a little ' boisterous ' after a few beers, but I have never been guilty of ' poison remarks, swearing etc ' as Allen Herbert puts it, never.
