Supplier may have been too generous a term. It's a private individual who says he has had this in storage in his basement for 15+ years.

I have been offered several rolls of this film. My investigations
tell me it is a high-speed (2000 asa) emulsion on an Estar-AH base
in 70mm width. What I've been offered is supposedly 35mm. Is this
right or is my supplier incorrect?

Does anyone know the appoximate shutter speed of the Meteor?

Regarding the construction of a C3, the main body is bakelite. The front and rear plates are metal castings.

Regarding the manufacuring of lenses, International Radio Corporation (IRC) purchased Graf Optical Company in 1938. IRC became Argus,Inc. in 1944. There are many variants of these cameras, some with flash sync., some had a focusing lens mount, one model had a Prontor shutter. I don't believe it's possible to collect all models because of all the variations.

Possibly taken in Canada? There are a lot of brick houses in and around Toronto.

What are most using as a daily lens? I'm outfitting either an XG-A
or an x300 as my pack-along camera and am in need of suggestions. I
currently have a 50mm and a 70-200. My 28-70 died of a broken
aperture.

I recently acquired an XG-A that has several problems. First, the
power switch does not function. Investigation shows that the detent
ball is missing, but I don?t know if there are any other parts gone
as well. Second, the film advance never stops. If so desired an
entire roll could be wound through with out ever tripping the
shutter. Third, the top plate is cracked at the right rear corner as
if dropped. This may be a contributing factor in the switch problem,
but by itself is of the most minor concern.
I purchased this as a possible back-up to my X-700, but I
fear I?ve gotten a stylish paperweight. If anyone could share some
repair tips or the pertinent pages from the repair manual, I would
be most grateful.

Sure you're not in "macro" mode? Some lenses have an additional ring or switch to enable the close-focus feature.

Approximately 6 months ago the maintenance shop I work in purchased a 3M LS950 laminator. This is a cold press unit using adhesive rolls of a thick film material. Just for fun I took a print and ran it through to test the protective properties. The print was made on a Lexmark Z something (I can't remember the specific model). It has been hanging in my office exposed to fluoresent light for 8 - 10 hours a day. Granted, this is not a scientific test, but I haven't noticed any fading or other changes, unlike other unlaminated prints I've displayed under the same conditions.

I have a Minolta mount 28-70 zoom that was sold through Sears. The
problem is the aperature has become slow to operate. I suspect oil
on the blades. Does anyone know who manufactured this lens and/or
how to best disassemble for cleaning?
Thanks

Be sure to check the escapement for broken/chipped teeth in the gear train. I know of several C3s that have suffered from this problem.

The Max 5 is not digital. The DSLR is the 7D at approximately twice your budget.

For what its worth, these are in Gettysburg,Pa.
The first monnument pictured is the Virginia monument. This is also the close-up photo. The second is the Peace Light Eternal Flame. This was turned off during the energy crunch of the 70's.
The cannon could be just about anywhere on the Battlefield.
If I had to guess, I would say these were taken sometime around the Centennial in 1963. How do I know these things? Two weeks every summer for the first 17 years of my life were spent with Mom's family in Gettysburg.

Argus C4/C44 - Sounds like a train wreck.

There are eight possible starting points for the focusing helix. Only one is correct. Take the front assembly off and try restarting at a different point.

Happy Birthday & many more!!

Over at the Argus Collector's Group, there's at least one person working to make replacement shutter links for the C4/C44 series of cameras. More info can be found at:
