I like this model more than most, becaue she has a 'classic'
Hollywood look. In reality, she's a set designer in L.A. I've done
a lot of 'behind the scenes' potraiture of Hollywood's working folks.

Great pic, I might crop the flower, however, because I want her to be the absolute focus.

Would have like to see his face more.

Sometimes I just love infrared type photos. Have you considered infrared portraits? It would give you this type of result with far less manipulation.

You captured a good moment, but the adult is distracting. I would have left them in.

Frankly, the model is wearing shimmery gold flecked 'lotion.' No photoshop -- I do all my printing manually. I think the light, plus the lotion give her a shimmerly, healthy glow . . .

L.A. make-up artist in front of the camera

Reminds me of the 80's style magazine covers

My model was looking for a "Stuff/Maxim" type of picture. This is
the result.

Thank you for the remarks. Actually, I considered each of these factors prior to composing the shot and choosing the F-stop. Had the coin been clearly in focus, it would have dominated the shot, and I wanted the magician to be the central subject--not his effect. Similarly, brining the entire wand into the shot distracted from the magician by creating yet another point of interest. Finally, as you note, placing more light on shadow side of face would have reduced the nice contrast. The point is not the effect, but the magician. Thanks again, though. Appreciate your thoughts.

This is one of the first shots of my husband that came out well. I
find shooting friends and family difficult as they either goof on me
or are too stiff.

This make-up artist give you a behind the scenes look at beauty in
Hollywood.

Shot this training olympiad in studio -- my purpose was to highlight
his well toned physique.

Great perspective!

I am working on shooting portraits for my portfolio. I especially
liked this shot because my friend is especially shy. It has the
look of an actor's head shot.
-
I like the mood this shot evokes.

I would like a closer crop to emphasize the kid.

It's a candid. He was trying his best not to be too fidgety
