Sarah and Bob, thanks for the info. A while ago I tougth about removing AA filter completely as I'm pretty sure that this is what happened too (scratch or crack), but there is a major problem: not having 'dust cleaning' anymore.

From my online research there is no way to replace only the AA filter in the 5D MKIII, that's the reason one need a new sensor entirely. I hope I'm very wrong!

If I was only using my camera to photograph, there would be no problem with clone tool, but in video, whenever there is a camera movement, there is a big problem. Trying to correct a take frame to frame is SLOW. And often I'm not the one editing the material, so I'm pretty sure I can make any editor very angry.

I found this place:

Canon Factory Service Center
100 Ridge Road
Jamesburg, NJ 08831
Phone: 866-510-1335

Problem is I can't find their e-mail anywhere on internet so I still can't contact them to ask for an estimate of time and price.
Edit: We wrote at the same time. At worst case I'll see if my friend can help me taking the camera there and explaining that we would need a fast service.

I need some help from you.
A while ago, when I come back from a job, I found my 5D MKIII had this "dust" on the corner of the images I've recorded. Seeing its pattern I already knew that it wasn't looking good so I left my camera in Canon Service Center and found the worse: it was damaged (with a mark that looks like a tiny straight line in the AA filter). If I was only photographing I would really not worry about this, problem is that I work more with video than photography these days...

The worse part is that my insurance company refused to fix the problem, I'm not in the warranty period anymore and the Canon Camera Service from my country (Brazil) asked something around US$ 2,000.00 for the fix! I believe it is a defective sensor problem as I didn't touch it with anything before, except air from the blower. I'm ready to accept my bad lucky and pay for a fix.

So I have 2 options now to try to spend less $: give this camera to a friend that is going to NY next week and ask him to send for repair or buy a new sensor and replace in Canon Service Center from my country, which would cost somewhere around US$ 250.00.

I want to ask 3 questions:
- Does anyone has experience with camera sensor replacement in NY Canon? Was it good or bad?
- I can't find the e-mail from Canon NY Repair Center to ask for price (which I have no idea how much is), address and estimate time for doing this repair. I don't feel confident to make an international call as my English conversation is not good, unfortunately. Can someone help me here?
- Is there any store that sells this sensor somewhere in the city?

Any advice or help is more than welcome! Thanks!

Victor, remember that there is always the possibility of 'stitching' pictures to get more resolution from your images. It may be an alternative to changing gear to Nikon, or other larger formats.

-

David, I think you will have to make your own chemicals, and buy film from eBay or international stores.
If you can speak Portuguese, I can invite you to a photography forum where there is a growing film photographers group.

-

It doesn't look like what I'd call 'very minimal' too, but unfortunately I'm not the photographer to be 100% sure.

-

Lupo, do you see any difference between the images? Maybe at 100%... At this size i can't see nothing. ;)
By the way thanks for your time.

Can someone post some pictures showing the differences between the old engine and this one?

-

I remember all the crap about D60, Fuji Provia and other garbage they put online too.
I like the idea of having a camera with 32mp, but I really hope Canon can put a decent sRAW file format too.

I use Nikon glass on a 5D MKII body, and I can easily say the 28mm f/2.0 AIS is a hell of a good lens, unlike the ones mentioned (20/24/28). It is better than the 17-35mm too.

Congratulations for your beautiful work!

I'm using Minolta IV with Windows 7 x64 and if I remember well, I tried this method:
No need for Vuescan. Hope it helps!

I don't know if it is the same but with Minolta IV under Windows 7 x64 I had to make what is said here:
http://www.frisno.com/2009/11/10/konica-minolta-dimage-scan-dual-iv-works-in-vista
Sorry, I don't know how to make a link...

It may be your shutter failing? How many pictures you've taken with this camera?

-

From all I ever used... Nikon 24mm f/2.0 AI wins.
The second one would be the 105mm f/2.5 AI.

-

Those last pictures look perfect to me, no problem with this lens.
At first I tought there was, but this test showed this is not true.

-
All I can say is my Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 outperforms by a great margin both 50mm f/1.8D AF and 105mm f/2.5 AI I have...
-
What hansen said!
-
Please someone says Nikon will let me do videos with my (fast) MF lenses!
-
Now if you want to feel this again, but with the 50mm as the crap lens, buy the 85mm f/1.4 Zeiss. ;)
I have one and agree it is a very good cost/benefit. Good luck!
-
I wouldn't underestimate your 35mm f/2 too. My 105mm should be the sharpest lens I ever had. Don't 'upgrade' these lens, do yourself a favor. ;)
-
No problem, JDM. ;)

Still looking for inspirational images...

I should have said 'women' really, it may be my poor English. :(
Bob, thanks for the start tip, but I'm thinking something more 'serious', like the pictures one can find in V Magazine or something like that.

I'm looking for good reference of girls and cars pictures around the net but
couldn't find any place to even start. My interest is to look for some
inspiration to my photography regarding interation of both elements, as well as
creative lighting, modeling, post production work, etc...
Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks.

Tom, half my lenses are "not perfectly symmetric but better than this" too. Do some tests to check exposure accuracy, and with the results decide what to do.
"bleeding" between some negative frames -- development? camera?

I agree with Ellis, looks like massive overexposure in those specific areas, not the frames as a whole.
This is normal behaviour, don't worry about it.
