Great pictures, Robert... That fifth one down from the top looks like a Canon-Dumpster, on it's way to the landfill ;0P

I am with Les on this... I pondered rechargable batteries when I first got my *istD and decided against them after researching.

You can get the regular Lithiums for cheep on FeeBay. Get one of the package deals for multiple batteries that are factory sealed and long dated. Be patient, there are many sets being auctioned off every day. They far outlast rechargables and don't suffer voltage drop as they are being used.

Why tust your $$$$$$ camera to questionable batteries just to save $.

A great example of why I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT when I am about to photograph a child and someone directs them to "SAY CHEESE" .
Daniel, these portraits are a small peek into the personality of the young ladies, and I think you have done a fine job capturing the "majesty of the moment". Thanks for sharing.

I have a *istD, love it for the reasons you all understand, and I would gladly buy another at $200. I would also like to buy a K10D for $300 but, unfortunately, that won't happen for a few years...

Edward Weston did some nice work in his own bathroom, kitchen, and back yard...

A good tripod will outlast many cameras... what is that worth?

Do you object to watermarking the images?

I love my little ME Super with it's 50mm 1.4 lens. I will never sell it. It has been a friend for a lot of years and it has taken a beating, but it still functions well. With the cheap price of film cameras I am considering buying another , though I also now use a *istD. You can take the film out of the camera, but I'm not sure that you can take the love of film out of the photographer.

Personally, I don't see a nylon bag as a good substitute for a hard lens cap... even with a protective lens filter screwed on.

When crossing the border, you can fill out a form that registers your higher priced items such as cameras, guns, and electronics. It serves as proof that you are not importing equipment. It never occurred to me that it might be necessary when mailing. Thanks for the heads-up Douglas.

Kimberly... Jack's Camera in Muncie, Indiana, is a great camera store. Friendly people who know what they are talking about. They have a lot of new equipment in stock and the back room is full of used cameras and studio equipment. Good luck with your goals.

That was a lot of words for what I hoped would be a no words posting.

Nothing creepy about it. I have a part time job traveling the country selling campaign buttons, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. One of the benefits is the opportunity to see, and occasionally meet, some of the candidates, and other VIPs. Since I am usually busy I rarely have time for anything more than a quick grab-shot.

The Obama photograph was done in Iowa at a Democratic party fundraiser, as was the second photograph. Obama, Hillary, John Edwards, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, and Iowa senator Tom Harken are all in the second picture.

I was standing at the back of the room with the permission of a secret service officer when I photographed Bill Clinton. The officer was very kind to allow me in for a few minutes, and I was not permitted to use flash or a tripod. Hand held 200mm lenses on a *istD do not allow for the sharpest photographs.

Most media photographers use the big brand named equipment (I hate to use the "N" word and the "C" word). I thought this post would be an opportunity for other Pentaxians to share their photographs of the famous. Actors, musicians, authors, etc would have fit in nicely. Apparently I was wrong.

BTW Justin... maybe with a new administration we can reinstate the Constitution of the United States and do away with the "WATCH LISTS".

Could it be that LBA stands for Lens Buyers Anonymous???

My name is Dave, and I am a lens addict.

BTW, I like fly rods too but I really, really, REALLY like American Flyer toy trains... and beer.

For artwork reproduction I am assuming you don't require a tremendous amount of power.

A small and very affordable setup could be as simple and inexpensive as a couple Vivitar 283 or 285 flashes with a couple tripods to put them on and some light modifiers like umbrellas or small softboxes. Throw in a set of affordable radio slaves and you are in business.

Shop around the used equipment and you can probably get it all for under $200
