thanks for the follow up Robert, interesting stuff!
-
I measured her legs and they are long enough :)<P>
What's with her eyes? Intended to look so feral?
-
forgot to add, ferne, you need to supply more details.. are you
talking about Konica IR750 as well or another IR film? Also, which
developer?
-
Mine have a purple tinge to them to, I think it is perfectly normal.
-
regarding the bulk loading... here in Australia my film costs using
bulk loading are less than 1/3rd the cost of buying 'factory' loads.
The cost of the loader and cassettes are swallowed in the first 30m
roll. However, as Jim highlights they have their down sides. You
can load your cassettes in the dark to avoid the last frame 1/2
fogged problem but I don't bother, it's never really worried me. I
don't have any problems with the start of the roll, so I'm not sure
what that refers to. I don't have any problems with scratches, and
in fact my negs are much cleaner than any commercially processed
stuff I use (C-41 B&W/Colour, E6)<P>I guess, what works for some
doesn't for others.
-
I tend to use my Durst Commask, a 8x10 easel with set size borders of
about 1cm. You can also flip it over and print either 2 5x8's (less
the 1cm border) or 4 4x5 (less 1cm borders between images) on one
8x10 peice of paper although I mostly print at 8x10 size. I use this
easel mostly due to the simplicity of it (open, insert paper, shut...
always get same border) and it's almost identical thickness (height
off the baseboard) as my test strip device (Paterson I think) so
although I refocus after doing a test strip, the image size is almost
identical and no exposure alterations need to be made.<P>
When printing larger, I'll use a 12x16 sheet (as large as I print at
the moment) and put the image in the middle at whatever size I decide
to print at.<P>
Also, I guess it depends on who (and how) you show your work too. No
one see's mine unless it's in a display book I use or been matted so
they don't get a chance to put their grubby fingers all over them!
-
either he needs a feed or I've had one too many ;)<P>He looks relaxed.

I would go for about 20% more.

Ilford LC29 (Plus) EI 100, 1:29, 5mins @ 20C, 30secs initial
agitation, 3 inversions per minute thereafter.

Nice pic.. I feel he's using the cigar to make his point
<p>
t. I think you have to send your film to them. There's a site about
the process at <a href=http://www.dr5.com>dr5</a>, click on the FAq
for all the info.
-
not neccesarily a favourite (haven't used enough of it), but a good
starting place for this developer (LC29) if you use it... APX-100
35mm, EI 100, Ilford LC29 developer, Dilution 1:29, 20C, 10mins,
agitation continuous 1st 30sec then 3 inversions every 1 min
-
I might be able to add a couple since I'm the only person who uses
Ilford LC29! Actually, I've added a couple to the M.D.C.
-
I have developed FP4 in Dektol which probably gives similar results.
I was after huge grain, and didn't get near as much as I thought I
would have based on what I'd read. If I was to try this again I'd use
HP5 or maybe Tri-X. Development times were half (probably less) my
normal times.
-
glad I posted that after Tony.. hehe! thanks Tony for your
thoughts. I have cropped the picture a little, but really only got
rid of more dead foreground (peoples legs) and some dark area off to
the right.
-
who says I do! ;) just kidding!<P>
I take very few people pics (other than my son and family) but I'm
getting an interest through this forum.<P>What I liked about this pic
was the relationship between the obvious sign and the girl manning
the booth, a child herself. I like how everyone, including all the
stuffed toys are looking at the recipient of the prize... Why I
posted it was to see if anyone thought the fact that you can hardly
see the recipient (blonde hair) or what she was receiving mattered.
Is it that bad that you wondered why I posted it? I didn't want to
ask that question outright, since that could influence your
opinion.<P>regards, Nige

Interesting comments Tony... thanks!<P>
The lack of faces was/is an element that had me thinking... and
undecided about whether having just one nose visable made this a
candidate for the circular filing cabinent...<P>As you can probably
tell due to the image dimensions, some cropping has occured! I
haven't got the original handy to see what I didn't like, but maybe I
haven't got enough of the scene in, for you not to be able to see
that they have just finished topping the boiler up with water, ready
for the return journey. Not sure what the guy on the left was
doing.. maybe polishing their 'toy'! :)

bumping to 'new answers' list
<P>
I'm 'guilty' of only looking at this page since I mostly lurk in this
forum. I don't take many 'people' pics, but have started too take a
few. Should we always bump new posts to the new answers list?
<P>Thoughts? ...you can comment on the pic too while you're here :)

I can't remember doing any contact prints of colour negs on normal
B&W paper, but enlargements weren't very good unless you were looking
for huge grain and weird tonal representation. Something to do with
the paper not sensitive to the colour negs in some wavelengths or
something (someone chime in and add the reason.. I'll remember then!)
Kodak make 'Panalure' paper for doing this, which must be handled in
compete darkness. All the 'good' info may not be appropiate, but if
you're contact sheets aren't what you expect, now you know partially
why :)
-
Keith, you can post that answer to nearly everything! Very Good!
-
Yes, Congratulations! Nice page too!. Don't forget to get in the
photo's with your daughter and son too!
<p>
Tony, I should introduce you to my wife who snaps close to a roll a
week of our son... and she's kept this up for 21mths so far!
Problems with developing Please Help !!

Sam, explain your process, including developer, dilution, temps and
times, agitation method... Also, are the edge numbers a solid black
or washed out too?
